114th Illinois Volunteer Infantry Civil War Re-enactment Organization Its function shall be patriotic, ceremonial, civic, athletic and charitable.

The purpose of this organization, known as the 114th Regiment Illinois Volunteer Infantry (Reactivated), is to foster patriotism, the Lincoln tradition and the historic past of the United States and the State of Illinois. It shall be a living memorial commemorating the ideals of this nation and state in relation to its past and especially to the period of the American Civil War, 1861-1865. It shal

l be a memorial to Abraham Lincoln and the Army of Lincoln's time and to the people of Springfield and Sangamon County, Illinois. Permission was granted, and the proclamation was made, by the Governor of the State of Illinois to reactivate the Regiment in 1969.
