How to Post a Message on the Internet
from [email protected]

The SUBJECT Line is the most important, why is this? Many members belong to many lists and may receive 100-200 e-mail a day. They look at the SUBJECT Line and if it does not relate to them they delete it, do not bother reading the body of the e-mail. Also there are e-mail programs where it only liststhe SUBJECT Line and the member decides if they will receive that e-mail.I list my surnames in CAPITAL LETTERS. (SURNAME - Birth Date - Death Date -Location (If you have this information)BODY OF LETTER - Again list surnames in Capital Letters such as (Jane BROWN). It is best not to list too many queries in one e-mail. If you have several surnames break them up in separate e-mail. List a short family story if you should have one. If you are willing to share the information you have, then mention this. If you are starting out and have nothing, it is important to list this also. And last but very important. As soon as you receive a response, no matter if it is helpful or not, THANK that person.

Filled with over 550 historic photographs, maps, and illustrations, the book brings to life the people, businesses, schools, churches, and stories that helped shape our county’s earliest years.

The book debuted at the Stephenson County Historical Society Annual Dinner in April 2026 and has been met with tremendous community interest. We are currently finishing the final shipment of pre-orders and appreciate everyone’s patience and support throughout this process.
