🚨 URGENT: A new federal bill was introduced today that could take away Spring Lake’s ability to say NO to 5G towers.

The FCC is proposing rules that would strip all local control over wireless infrastructure. If this passes:

• Towns lose their zoning authority. No say in where towers go.
• Automatic approvals after 150 days — even if there is strong local opposition.
• No independent safety review. The wireless industry would police itself.
• Towers could be forced onto residential streets, near schools, parks, and Ocean Ave — with zero ability for communities to stop it.
• Local budgets and property rights would be compromised.

This doesn’t just affect Spring Lake — it affects every town across the country.

We urged the mayor and council not to settle with Verizon—whose lawsuit could force 35-foot poles along Ocean Avenue and beyond.
This isn’t just about Ocean Ave.
nearby towns approved one tower—then got dozens more.
Spring Lake must stand firm.

🗓 Council Meeting – Monday, May 27 at 7:00 PM 📍 Borough Hall – 423 Warren

📢 5G Settlement Talks Are Advancing Without Resident Input
Recent developments indicate that Spring Lake Borough and Verizon have initiated settlement discussions regarding proposed 5G towers:
April 21: Borough and Verizon met via Zoom
May 7: Both parties requested a court settlement conference
May 12: A status conference was held with the judge
Our legal team, representing Spring Lake residents, has requested to participate, but the judge has not yet ruled on our motion to intervene.
⚠️ Until then, there’s a real risk Verizon and the Borough could settle—without any public input.
The Borough’s proposal includes placing 5G infrastructure on the two beachfront pavilions.
We advocate for:
No new towers in Spring Lake
Temporary “COWs” (cells on wheels) on Ocean Avenue
Utilizing the existing water tower, which already hosts wireless equipment
⚠️ Approve Just One Tower in Spring Lake... Get a Town-Wide MESH Network
Experiences from towns like Point Pleasant and Lavallette show that once one 5G tower is approved, more follow:
