Urgent help needed - this is Salvatore “Sal” he will be two years old on October 14, 2026. Sal was found as a stray with his litter mates when he was around eight weeks old, he was very sick and had the calicivirus with severe respiratory issues, but he has since been healthy until now.
Sal has been losing weight and lethargic; I took him to the emergency vet this weekend and he was diagnosed with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, which means he will need a cardiologist.
The ER bill was close to $500, which I paid for. But I need help paying for a specialist to get him the care he needs. I am not sure on the cost yet, all I know is that there is a veterinary specialist in Tampa called Epic who will see him, I don’t know the cost of anything yet except for the exam fee, which is $241.
I’m assuming they will have to do further labs, diagnostics and an echocardiogram plus whatever else they determine appropriate.
The ER vet on Saturday did a CBC, profile - chem 17, BNP, x-ray, stool sample, antibiotics (convenia) because he has a high white blood cell count, and heart meds (Enalapril).
Any help is truly appreciated and I will update the post with any new information as well as vet bills/estimates.
I do not qualify for CareCredit or any other credit or I would’ve already done this. I am a full-time student and I work full-time as well. Please consider helping me (Chelsea) save Salvatore.

Appointment set for 10/21/26 @ 1pm with Dr. Sheehan. Appointment is $241 and Echocardiogram is $765, totaling $1,006 so far. (Appointment under Chelsea Koach - Salvatore Koach)
