Day 46 — A Quiet Day of Waiting
After the weight of yesterday, today is quieter.
It is a day of waiting. A day to pause and reflect. Jesus is in the tomb, and we sit in that space, not rushing ahead, but taking time to look back on all that has brought us here.
It feels like the right time to reflect on this Lenten journey.
When Lent began, I didn’t know what to expect, nor did I have much of a plan. But adding these daily reflections has been far more impactful than giving something up ever was in years past. Instead of being about willpower or what I was missing, it became a rhythm...of showing up, reading more closely, thinking more critically, and sharing along the way.
Over time, that rhythm led to something deeper. A stronger connection to the words I was reading and the faith I was trying to understand more fully.
Over these past weeks, I’ve felt encouraged, supported, and not alone in this. After so many years away, it has brought me closer to my hometown and to this church community in a way I didn’t expect.
This town was and is a special place. It has also had its share of challenges. My hope is that we continue to recognize what can be, and that we move forward together with a sense of hope.
I want to express my sincere thanks to Pastor Tricia and Pastor Nathaneil for trusting me with the church’s page. To Loi, thank you for the encouragement, the feedback, and the extra set of eyes. And to all of you who read, responded, and walked through this season with me, your presence made this feel like something we carried together.
Thanks be to God! And I hope you all have a beautiful Easter tomorrow.
Scripture
“The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.”
John 1:5
Question to Ponder
As Lent comes to a close, what is something I want to carry forward and how might I continue to grow in my faith beyond this season?
Prayer
Gracious God, we thank you for walking with us through this Lenten season and for the ways you have been at work in our lives. We lift up the town of Sprague and all who call it home. May your presence be felt in every conversation, every challenge, and every moment of hope. As we wait on the promise of Easter, remind us of the gift of your Son, Jesus, who has overcome death and brought us new life. Help us carry what we have learned into the days ahead, growing in faith, love, and trust in you. Amen.
