A great collaboration between HTC Northeast and HTC Northern California. Thank you all for your talent to help heal children in Peru!

Our Medial Team led by Dr. Evan Ransom recently returned from Ica, Peru! A team of 35 volunteers, including surgeons, anesthesia, OR, PACU and Speech & Language Pathology were in Ica for a week. They screened 84 patients and performed 52 cleft lip and palate surgeries for children in need. Many thanks to our large team of volunteers and to Jose Paredes, our gracious host!

A wonderful story!

Recently, Healing the Children Wisconsin collaborated with Dr. Rick Hodes in Ethiopia to facilitate the medical treatment of 4-year-old Aklesia. Through our international medical assistance program, she traveled with her parents from Addis Ababa, Ethiopia to the Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences in Kochi, India, for a cardiac procedure. She had pulmonary valve stenosis which required a heart balloon valvuloplasty procedure. This procedure will greatly improve the quality of Aklesia’s life. We extend our sincere gratitude to Dr. Rick Hodes, Dr. Krishna Kumar and the entire medical team at Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences for their exceptional care and support. We would also like to thank our sister chapter, Healing the Children Kentucky for their generous financial support of this mission. It takes a village to save the life of a child.

Mei-Ling Wong is an CPNP-AC who has been traveling with HTCNE since 2016. She has provided care for children in Ica, Peru and Santa Marta, Colombia for a total of ten trips! To celebrate National Nurses Day, we’d like to give thanks to Mei-Ling and all of the nurses who volunteer with us. ♥️
