Good afternoon. 'Tis me, Nancy, with an announcement.

If I can squeeze myself into this tiny box, then you most certainly can squeeze out a little time to get the cats living outside your house spayed and neutered.

Come on folks...it's not that difficult! YOU have the power to make the life of a cat easier and healthier.

Now if you will excuse me...I must get back to my box duty!

Love,
Nancy

We couldn't say it any better! Spay and Neuter!!!

🐾 "Free kittens" aren’t actually free. And right now, they’re costing shelter cats their lives. 💔

It’s National Adopt a Cat Month, but honestly? It’s hard to celebrate when rescues and shelters are completely drowning.

We are battling a massive overpopulation crisis, and here is the hard truth about why:

🛑 The "Free Kitten" Illusion
Every day, social media is flooded with posts offering free kittens. It looks like a great deal, and you might even think you're saving a life.

But ask yourself:

Are they fixed? No.
Are they fully vaccinated? No.
Are they vetted or combo-tested? No.

The sad reality? Most of these kittens never get the medical care they need. They grow up, they don't get fixed, they end up outside, and the cycle of overpopulation continues.

📉 The Ripple Effect:

Every single preventable pregnancy matters. Because there is a surplus of "free" pets online, adoption rates at certified rescues are plummeting.

Shelters have:

❌ No more room.
❌ No more space.
❌ No more resources.

They are forced to say "no" to helpless animals because they are simply out of options.

💡 You Have More Power Than You Think
If we want to celebrate cats, we have to protect them. We need to stop the cycle before it starts.

Support Spay/Neuter Initiatives: Donate to or volunteer with local trap-neuter-return (TNR) groups and low-cost clinics.

Adopt, Don't Shop (or Scroll): When you adopt from a rescue, your adoption fee covers surgeries, microchips, and vaccines—saving you money and saving a shelter animal's life.

Be a Responsible Pet Owner: Fix your pets. No exceptions.
Help fix the cats in your neighborhood - even just one.

Let's help our local rescues stop drowning so they can start saying "YES" to the animals who need them most. 🐈❤️

This is the heartbreaking reality for female community cats. Imagine being so young, already raising a litter, still nursing kittens, and pregnant again.

We have the ability to stop this madness and give cats like this one a better life.

This paperwork tells an important story.

This mama cat is barely 1 year old. At only a year of age, she is lactating (nursing a current litter) AND pregnant with her next litter at the same time.

It happens incredibly fast. Kittens can become pregnant as young as 4 months old, and nursing mothers can become pregnant again within just a few weeks after giving birth, even while they are still nursing their current litter.

This is why TNR can’t wait. Every week matters, and every delay can mean another litter.
…………

ETA: please TNR those nursing moms! Kittens should be starting the weaning process at four weeks of age, and mom can still produce milk and nurse them after getting spayed.

Remember Pete, the flame point Community cat? Well, check out Pete's fancy accessory...a new EAR TIP!! 😍

Yep! We caught that boy with a drop trap, got him neutered, and now he gets to live out the rest of his life stress-free.

The life of an unaltered male cat is not easy. They fight other tom cats for territory, spread disease through those fights, suffer constant injuries, stinky spray and display other undesirable behaviors, and roam endlessly looking for a girlfriend. It’s a rough life.

Thankfully, Pete has caring people providing food and shelter for him, so now he’s set up for a life of leisure.

A neutered boy kitty is our favorite kind anyway.

Welcome to the good life, Pete!

We can't rescue our way out of Spartanburg County's cat crisis. Spay and Neuter is the only solution.

We can't rescue our way out of Spartanburg County's cat crisis. Spay and Neuter is the only solution.

We are in a CAT CRISIS right now. They are reproducing exponentially and there is no way out of this problem without aggressive spay and neuter.

If you see an unknown outdoor cat, take action ASAP. Prevention is key.

❌ Don’t wait for that female to have kittens just for them to get ran over by cars or abandoned by mom.

❌ Don’t wait for that male to have injuries from fighting that he can’t recover from.

❌ Don’t wait to try to “ earn its trust”.

Use common sense and ask your neighbors if it’s their cat first. However, the majority of the estimated 30,000 outdoor cats in our area are unowned. 😿

If you are in Spartanburg County, it’s FREE to get these cats fixed. Contact me to rent a trap and for more information: www.cattrapdepot.org
