THIS IS WHAT CHILD ABUSE LOOKS LIKE.

It doesn’t always leave a bruise. Sometimes, it’s hidden inside a phone, laptop, hard drive, USB, tablet, or microSD card.

The scale is devastating. According to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC), 2025 CyberTipline reports contained 61.8 million images, videos and other files related to suspected child sexual exploitation—including 29.4 million images and 26.3 million videos.

And when abuse is recorded, it can be stored, shared, traded, and viewed again and again—re-victimizing the child each time.

That’s why electronic evidence matters.

🐾 FUTURE HERO IN TRAINING: MEET SULLY!

She’s little now, but Sully has a BIG mission ahead of her and big paws to fill — she will eventually join ESD K-9 Chip and our 30+ other ESD K9s one day in our mission to save children from abuse and exploitation.

Defenders For Children’s new Little Sniffers Program is an initiative created to raise the next generation of Electronic Detection K9 heroes from puppyhood to the front lines.

Over the next 14–16 months, Sully and her fellow Little Sniffers will learn the foundations they need—obedience, manners, confidence, socialization, and exposure to new environments—before beginning advanced scent training and ultimately being paired with a law enforcement agency.

But we can’t raise these future heroes alone.

We need our community to help raise a hero!

We are looking for:

• Loving, committed Puppy Raiser Families
• Pet food and treats
• Crates, beds, toys, leashes and harnesses
• Veterinary services and supplies
• Financial sponsors and donors
• Businesses willing to partner with the program

Your support today helps build tomorrow’s ESD K9 team—dogs that will one day help law enforcement uncover hidden evidence, stop predators, and protect children.

🐾 MEET SULLY—A FUTURE FURRY HERO! 🐾

We’re excited to announce that Defenders For Children Board Member and FOX Carolina News Anchor Margaret-Ann Carter is helping launch our new Little Sniffers Puppy Program!

Margaret-Ann has welcomed Sully, a Golden Retriever puppy beginning his journey to become an Electronic Detection K9.

Named after Monsters, Inc., Sully represents a mission of protection, safety, and care for children.

Electronic Detection K9s are trained to locate hidden devices that may contain critical evidence—helping law enforcement protect children and strengthen cases against offenders.

But future heroes like Sully need help.

We’re seeking foster families to provide loving homes, basic training, and socialization for these future working dogs. It’s a big commitment—but an even bigger impact.

Sully’s journey begins with one of our partners at Carolina Goldens, whose AKC-registered puppies are bred for service, therapy, and family companionship.

You’re not just fostering a puppy—you’re helping raise a future hero who could one day help protect a child.

Donations also make this work possible, covering veterinary care, training, food, and supplies.

Thank you, Margaret-Ann, for helping Sully take his first steps toward service.
