Currently being treated for a minor bilateral ear yeast infection with Simplera Otic

Trazodone 100mg for shelter-related anxiety
Background & Behavior
Rosa was born in the care of CAS and adopted as a puppy. She was recently surrendered because the owner felt unable to manage her energy level and training needs.
She is housebroken with very few accidents, walks nicely on a leash, sleeps comfortably in a crate overnight, rides well in the car, and is highly food motivated. She knows basic commands including sit and paw (both right and left). She previously lived with children under 10 years old and an outdoor cat, though she will chase cats.
Rosa can initially be nervous with new handlers but warms up with patience and consistency. Staff describe her as loose, wiggly, and social once comfortable. She enjoys treats and responds well to structure and routine.
Behavior Assessment Notes
Behavior testing was performed following the owner’s report of guarding items she should not have. During evaluations:
She would relinquish rawhide but initially froze before redirecting into playful behavior.
With toys, she occasionally engaged in tug-style play and sometimes maintained possession.
During the food assessment, she displayed resource guarding behaviors including hard eye, growling, and snapping when approached closely while eating.
Additional owner-reported behaviors include:
Resistance to being physically pushed or forced into the crate
Can be stubborn and requires consistency and boundaries
Known to get into trash if accessible
Nervous around vacuums and brooms
Dog-to-Dog Notes
Rosa is timid but social with other dogs and appears to do best with calm, prosocial canine companions who help build her confidence. Per the previous owner, she enjoys playing once comfortable but may become overwhelmed by more intense dogs.
Overall, Rosa is a young dog with a lot of potential who would benefit from continued training, structure, and patient guidance in a rescue or experienced home environment.
