Please forgive me for the delay In getting membership started this year. I had fully intended on having everything ready to go already. The recent death of Chuck has taken some of the wind out of my sails. it's still hard to believe we wont be seeing him out in the fields this year.
There are things that Chuck did for this group that might be impossible for any "one" person to fulfill, but hopefully we can find a few people willing to help out so we wont have to turn away any food or gleans.

We do have one need to fulfill rather soon though…Days before his accident, he had purchased 15 or so fruit trees. They need to get in the ground and we offered our help to Mary. If you'd be willing to provide the labor and muscle that it will take to get the trees in the ground for her, it would be greatly appreciated. I know that some of Chucks brothers also said that they would help. I'm sure it will on a weekend, so please keep that in your thoughts.

I promise that I will gather my emotions and dig in so we can kick off this years membership.

We hope everyone enjoyed family and friends during the Thanksgiving holiday, what a wonderful time to be thankful for all of our blessings. To spread goodwill and service to those who are in need. We are hosting a collection of travel size toiletry items (bar soap, toothbrush, toothpaste, shampoo, washcloth, deodorant) to complete a "comfort kit" for the Red Cross. All of our 4-H members in grades 4th-12th and their families are welcome to participate. 4-H Honor Club and All Stars members will assemble these "comfort kits". These kits will be used to support White County families in need of these items. If you would like to help, drop off your donations at our office at 117 S. Main Street in Sparta, or for more info contact us at 836-3348. Thanks for your support it is greatly appreciated!

Well third time was not the charm for me. My procedure is still up in the air. So, while I have been laying around in bed, trying to fight off some depression, I thought I would post an update.

Has anyone been able to contact any churches or businesses about holding a food drive?

Anyone heard anything from the city? I'm sorry but I can't remember who was working on that.

Anyone found any other places outside of the city for the pantries? Like Bon Aire? Hampton Crossroads? Gum Springs? Or any such places?

Hope everyone was able to enjoy a good and blessed Thanksgiving. Medical issues still taking a toll the body. The delays in the proper medical procedure done have thrown a huge monkey wrench pantry building plans. Does anyone have any information about how the pantries are doing with donations?

Hello everyone, I just wanted to quickly apologize for not being around much these last few days. With the recent weather change and a massive change in my medications, I have been dealing with some challenges. Tuesday I am scheduled for my first of two procedures. I was really hoping to get some work done on the cabinet that was donated. Needless to say that didn't happen. I will continue to check in as I can. I hope everything that you all are working on is going better. ;)

I stopped by the Zile Pantry around 5pm tonight and someone had stocked the pantry. I topped it off with the last bit of money I have for the week, from Save A Lot. I also stopped by the Spring Street pantry and put the rest of what I bought in there. So both of these pantries are stocked for the time being.

I have also contacted one of our volunteers, who is going to talk to one of the businesses he frequents almost daily, and see if they will agree to be a donation collection site for us. I will let you know when I hear back.

Next week I will be having a series of surgical procedures that will put me out of commission for the rest of the month, so I am REALLY going to need everyone on here to help out. Please keep an eye on the pantries and post on here if they are getting low. If you can afford to pick up extra groceries and put them aside for the pantries. Even an extra $5-$10 would help greatly.

If you guys have any ideas of where we can put up boxes, who will build the pantry boxes, install them and who might be willing to donate supplies, please contact them. Don't wait for me. We are a group and should act like it.
