We really enjoyed spending time with last week learning Yiddish resistance songs, and we're looking forward to more time together in community as our community culture crew gets launched!

DJJ is sending love to all of our community members and neighbors in Berkley and Huntington Woods this morning. Hundreds of vile antisemitic and racist flyers were found by parents, children, and individuals when they left their homes to go to school or work. Jews and all of our neighbors deserve to feel safe in our communities.

N***s and white supremacists use antisemitism to generate division and fear in our communities. Authority figures in D.C. are using this fear to divide Jews from our neighbors. But we refuse to let them win. We will not be intimidated into isolation or silence.

Antisemitism and racism have no place in Metro Detroit. DJJ and our partners will continue to join together with our beautifully diverse neighbors to work toward justice and safety for all of us.

🚨🚨🚨The MAGA regime has abducted another person in their attempts to use immigration detention to decimate free speech. They are trying to use Jews as a wedge to divide our communities and advance their fascist agenda, but WE WON'T LET THEM! Sign here and stay posted for more updates:

The Trump regime using antisemitism as a smokescreen to crush our civil liberties and divert attention and resources away from real antisemitism

DJJ’s organizing team had the privilege and pleasure of gathering last week with a network of organizations that are organizing our Jewish communities across the country to advance social, racial, and economic justice for all. We honed our craft, laughed, cried, and are renewed for the ongoing fight 💜

Special shoutout to DJJ’s organizer, Stevie, who put in countless hours to plan such a spirited, skillful, and connective convening. We can’t wait to share what we learned with you!

Powerful reflections from Rabbi Gamer in Oak Park.

"And in that presence, something essential was revealed: We are never alone.

Our tradition teaches that when loss or trauma enters a life, we do not wait for invitation. We come. We sit. We show up. In the practice of shivah, the community gathers not to fix what is broken, but to affirm that no one carries grief alone. We enter another person’s pain not with answers or to minimize that pain, but with accompaniment.

This is one of Judaism’s deepest moral truths: Human beings are bound together not only by belief, but by responsibility to one another."

In the end, what carries us through this moment is not only institutional response, but communal presence — the simple act of showing up for one another.
