Billy Porter Gives A Brief History of Q***r Political Action

"Academy award-winning actor and singer Billy Porter takes us on a journey through time to explore the more obscure political actions that have changed the course of LGBTQIA+ history. Before that fateful day at Stonewall in 1969, there were nearly 50 years worth of q***r political actions that took place but today, they are still overlooked when regarding modern history and civil rights movements."

🌈💛 Help Us Rebuild Rainbow Recharge for South Haven Pride 2026 💛🌈

Pride is joyful, exciting, loud, colorful, emotional, and full of connection — but for many people, large events can also become overwhelming.

That’s why Rainbow Recharge matters so much.

Rainbow Recharge is a quiet, sensory-friendly space at South Haven Pride where people can step away from the crowds, take a breath, regulate sensory overload, decompress, or simply rest for a moment before returning to the celebration. It’s a reminder that accessibility, inclusion, and care are just as important as the celebration itself. 💛

Whether someone is neurodivergent, experiencing anxiety, overstimulation, chronic illness, emotional overwhelm, or simply needs a calm moment to reset — this space can make all the difference.

We’re currently looking for donations of:
🪑 Bean bag chairs
🏖️ Beach/lawn chairs
🧶 Area rugs
🎧 Quiet/noise-reducing headphones
🧸 Quieter sensory items & fidgets

Items can be new or gently used!

If you’d like to help us rebuild Rainbow Recharge for Pride 2026, please email us at:

Thank you for helping us create a Pride where people feel safe, supported, cared for, and welcomed exactly as they are. 🌈

Thank you to the Kunty Kittens for another sold out show helping raise funds for South Haven Pride. The Kunty Kittens have been with us since day one and hold a very special place in our community’s history. They were the very first drag performance to ever take place in South Haven and since then they have continued to show us nothing but love, community, talent, and professionalism.

Their dedication and support for South Haven LGBTQ+ Advocacy has meant so much to all of us, and we are deeply appreciative of everything they continue to do for our community.

We feel incredibly lucky to have their production return time and time again, and we look forward to many more unforgettable shows together in the future. 🏳️‍⚧️🏳️‍🌈🤗

Today, South Haven LGBTQ+ Advocacy was proud to join the 2026 LGBTQ+ Capitol Day hosted by Equality Michigan and the Michigan LGBTQ+ Commission.

This incredible event brought together advocacy groups, allies, and organizations from across the state to meet with legislators and have meaningful conversations about LGBTQ+ issues impacting our communities. Events like Capitol Day give us the opportunity to connect directly with elected officials and share our stories, experiences, and perspectives so they can make informed decisions on LGBTQ+ topics that affect real people across Michigan.

We especially want to thank House Representative Joey Andrews and House Representative Julie Rogers for taking the time to meet with us and listen to our community. Your willingness to engage in these conversations truly matter.

Advocacy starts with showing up, sharing our voices, and building relationships—and today was a meaningful step forward.

South Haven LGBTQ+ Advocacy Stands with Immigrant Families at Saugatuck Benefit Concert

South Haven LGBTQ+ Advocacy was proud to join South Haven Indivisible at the benefit concert for immigration detainees and their families. Joined together at the beautiful Saugatuck Center for the Arts.

Our Executive Director, Blanca Hinojosa, served as MC for the evening and even got the crowd on their feet showing off some dance moves along the way! (See the comments)

We are honored to share the stage in support of all members of the LGBTQ+ community — including our immigrant families. Together, we continue building a community rooted in compassion, inclusion, and pride.
