It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of our beloved longtime member, Sally Jean O’Bryan, who left us on May 18, 2026. 😘😇

Sally was more than just a member of the South Gate Women’s Club — she was a kind soul, a compassionate heart, and a shining example of service to others. A devoted member since December 1957, Sally dedicated decades of her life to supporting our nonprofit organization and helping bring hope, care, and healing to so many in our community, especially our youth. Her gentle spirit, warm smile, and willingness to always lend a helping hand touched countless lives.

The impact Sally made cannot be measured in words alone. She believed deeply in uplifting others and making our community a better place for future generations. Her legacy of love, kindness, and selfless service will continue to inspire all of us.

Today, we mourn the loss of a beautiful woman, but we also celebrate the life she lived and the difference she made. Sally will forever remain in our hearts and in the spirit of the South Gate Women’s Club.

May you rest peacefully, dear Sally. You will never be forgotten. ❤️🙏

Today was a beautiful reminder of what service, sisterhood, and community truly look like. 💙

The Los Cerritos District Alumnae and Friends gathered for the 2026-2028 Installation of Officers at Golden Corral, and what an unforgettable day it was. We were honored to be installed by South Gate’s councilman Gil Hurtado as we also closed out our final 2024–2026 meeting together.

We were especially grateful to have members of the South Gate Women’s Club present in support and fellowship, including Toni Martinez, Ariel Mayer, and Claudia Vidaurri. Their presence added even more warmth and encouragement to this special occasion.

One of the most touching moments was the beautiful saxophone performance by Sebastian Cruz. Although he is just beginning his college journey, his talent, heart, and passion filled the room with joy and inspiration. He reminded us that the next generation is full of promise and greatness.

Organizations like ours continue to work quietly but faithfully behind the scenes — supporting philanthropic and welfare projects, uplifting one another, and serving our communities with love and dedication. Sometimes people only see the meetings, but what they may not see is the compassion, commitment, and years of service that each woman brings to the table.

Today was more than an installation. It was a celebration of legacy, friendship, mentorship, and the power of women coming together to make a difference. Thank you to everyone who continues to support our mission and our community. Together, we continue planting seeds of hope for future generations. 🌹✨

The National Day of Prayer hosted by Churches in Action in South Gate was truly a beautiful and spirit-filled gathering that touched the hearts of everyone present. Hosted by Bishop Juan Carlos Mendez, the event brought together community members, government officials, police representatives, the South Gate Chamber of Commerce, and pastors from various churches, all united in faith, love, and prayer.

From the moment guests arrived, there was a feeling of peace, joy, and togetherness. The church was filled to capacity, overflowing with smiling faces, warm welcomes, and a powerful sense of unity. Each table was decorated with beautiful centerpieces of fresh flowers, adding elegance and warmth to the morning.

The heartfelt prayers shared by every speaker deeply moved the audience as we came together to worship the Lord and pray for peace in our world, wisdom for our government leaders, protection for our communities, and blessings for families everywhere. Hearing pastors from different churches pray side by side was a beautiful reminder that faith brings people together in love and hope.

A special and well-deserved moment of the event was when Bishop Juan Carlos Mendez received certificates of recognition from Assembly members, Congress, and the Senate in honor of his dedication, leadership, and outstanding work serving the community through faith and unity. It was a touching tribute that reflected the respect and appreciation so many have for his service.

The delicious breakfast, the joyful fellowship, and the kindness shared throughout the event made the morning even more special. It was more than just a gathering — it was a moment of encouragement, healing, and inspiration for all who attended.

Representing the South Gate Women’s Club at this meaningful event were Jan Hicks, Connie Godoy, Toni Martinez, Monique Holguin, Ariel Mayer, and Claudia Vidaurri, who proudly attended in support of faith, unity, and community service.

Events like these remind us of the importance of coming together in prayer and community. If you have never attended a National Day of Prayer gathering, we warmly encourage you to come and experience the love, peace, and joy for yourself. There is something truly powerful about worshiping the Lord together and lifting our hearts in prayer for our city, our nation, and our world.

May God continue to bless our community with faith, unity, and peace. 🙏🌸✨

It was truly an honor and a joy to serve as Chairperson for the GFWC/CFWC Los Cerritos District Garden Conference held on Wednesday, May 6, 2026. Our beautiful theme, “Blossoms and Brilliance,” came to life in every corner of the event at the American Legion in Long Beach.

Each club added its own special touch by bringing a lovely door prize for our lucky ticket holders, and every table was decorated so beautifully with creativity, elegance, and love. Members proudly brought flowers to be judged, and we were honored to have our two wonderful judges, Tricia LeGalley and Jose Holguin, who graciously shared their time and expertise.

One of the highlights of the day was our delightful Hat Parade. Every participant took the time to decorate their hats with such love, imagination, and brilliance. So many beautiful ribbons were awarded in various categories, including hat decorating, flower arrangements, and table decorating. The room was filled with excitement, laughter, and admiration for everyone’s creativity.

Our guest speaker, Asher Justin West from Armstrong Garden Centers in Huntington Beach, did an outstanding job sharing his knowledge and passion for gardening. His presentation inspired and educated us all.

I would also like to recognize and sincerely thank the incredible Garden Conference Committee: Corinne Lewis, Ivonne Correa, Lucy Hase, and Jean William, along with our LCD President, Barbara Briley Beard. Your support, dedication, and teamwork made this event so special and successful.

It was also a great honor for our speaker garden conference committee and judges to receive Certificates of Appreciation from District 65, Assemblyman Mike Gibson.

A heartfelt thank you to the Lakewood Women’s Club for providing coffee and sweet bread, and to the Long Beach Women’s Club for the delicious lunch enjoyed by all.

This was truly a day to remember — filled with friendship, beauty, inspiration, laughter, and the wonderful spirit of Blossoms and Brilliance. Being my very first time serving as Chairperson, I feel proud and grateful for the experience, and I believe I did an amazing job thanks to the love and support of everyone around me.

Representing the South Gate Women’s Club were Monique Holguin, Toni Martinez, Ariel Mayer, and myself, Claudia Vidaurri. Though small in number, we were there with full hearts and great pride.

Thank you to everyone who helped make this beautiful event such a meaningful and memorable success. 🌸✨

What an unforgettable day at the GFWC/CFWC Los Cerritos District 70th Annual Convention at the Grand Hotel in Long Beach! 🌺

This year’s theme, Women Supporting Women, truly came to life as we honored past Los Cerritos District Presidents and welcomed past CFWC State Presidents. It was inspiring to reflect on the legacy of strong women who paved the way for all of us.

Our convention included important business—motions, debate, approval of minutes, and a reminder of decorum (yes, even cell phone rules! 😊). We were honored to welcome Sandy Tessier, CFWC Area C Vice President, and to recognize our special guests with a warm acknowledgment from our District President, Barbara Briley Beard.

Each of our LCD Officers shared their reports, and congratulations to all the clubs who received certificates for their annual reports, presented by Terri Belch! A highlight of the day was the installation of our 2026–2028 Officers, led by Judge Mickie Reed. The newly installed officers were also honored with Certificates of Recognition from Assemblyman Mike Gipson for their new roles on the Executive Board—such a special moment!

We also heard heartfelt oral reports from our amazing club presidents:
• GFWC Long Beach Women’s Club
• GFWC Women’s Club of Huntington Park
• Lakewood Women’s Club
• Paramount Women’s Club
• South Gate Women’s Club
• Women’s Club of Artesia-Cerritos
• Woman’s Club of Bellflower

One of the most touching moments was our memorial tribute. Each club honored members who have passed, sharing their impact and legacy, followed by a moment of silence. It was a beautiful reminder of the love and dedication within our federation.

Our District President also organized 217 “blessed bags” that members took to distribute to those experiencing homelessness—because we truly are angels of the Federation. 💙

We had a total of 69 members in attendance representing all nine clubs, and the South Gate Women’s Club proudly showed up with 8 members: Sylvia Masushige, Anna Rodriguez, Veronica Gardea, Claudia Vidaurri, Ariel Mayer, Rosemary Kelly, Gloria Medina and Araceli Macias.

And let’s not forget the fun! With our Hawaiian style, the decorations were absolutely beautiful, and the entire day was filled with joy, laughter, and sisterhood. 🌴🌸

Truly a day to remember!

Adrienne Nicole Edwards founder of ANE Foundation proudly hosted its Spring Fest at Los Angeles Adventist Academy, welcoming nearly 1,000 cars in a heartfelt effort to serve our community. Families received an abundance of essential resources, including groceries, diapers, sanitizers, gas cards, water coolers, beverages, shoes, toys, clothing, and more—each item distributed with care, compassion, and a spirit of generosity.

This impactful event was made possible through the support of dedicated sponsors, including Assemblyman Mike Gibson, along with many other community partners who came together to uplift local families. Their contributions helped create a day filled not only with vital assistance, but also with smiles, connection, and hope.

Approximately 50 volunteers generously gave their time and energy, including commissioners from District 65, Ariel Mayer and Claudia Vidaurri of the South Gate Women’s Club, and Barbara Calhoun from the Senate office. Their collective efforts were instrumental in making this event a success.

In recognition of their outstanding service and commitment, the Senate and Assemblyman Mike Gibson presented certificates of appreciation to the volunteers, honoring their hard work and dedication to the community.

This Spring Fest stands as a testament to what can be achieved when people come together with a shared purpose—to support families and spread kindness.
