SASH was proud to be part of this year's 5th Annual Health Equity Summit at the UVM Davis Center in Burlington (and online). SASH Director Liz Genge was at our table, where we had wonderful conversations with folks from across Vermont about how SASH helps older adults stay healthy and at home.

Liz and Hannah Rose also presented "Breaking Down Barriers: Embedding Mental Health Clinicians and Coaches in Affordable Senior Housing with SASH," sharing how bringing mental health support right where people live is making a real difference for SASH participants.

Yesterday our SASH team gathered in grass skirts, leis, and some truly spectacular headwear to watch the virtual SASH conference together. But the party had a secret agenda... We were also there to surprise two beloved SASH Coordinators, Syndi Zook and Janet Grant, as they head into retirement!

Over the years, Syndi and Janet have helped countless participants stay healthy, connected, and thriving at home. Their compassion, humor, and dedication have made a lasting difference for the people they served and the colleagues who worked alongside them.

To honor them, Team Leader Lisa Pate put together retirement gifts, and Team Leader Pilar Paulsen painted each of them a one-of-a-kind picture. There were tears all around, and that says everything about how much these two mean to us.

Syndi and Janet, thank you for everything you've given to SASH and to our communities. We'll miss you, and we can't wait to hear about your next adventures. Enjoy every minute!

Big news for SASH! We were just named a national model in a new Shelterforce op-ed by Jim King, CEO of Fahe, a rural housing network in Appalachia. He points to SASH as an example of what it looks like to build real systems for aging safely at home, not just one-off partnerships, and notes the program's track record of better health outcomes at lower cost. Proud of our coordinators who make this work happen every day, one home visit at a time.

SASH Coordinator MJ Merchant recently teamed up with Williston Woods residents to host a hilarious "Murder in the Pizzeria" murder mystery event at Town Meadow!

This talented group of actors has been traveling around performing murder mystery events, complete with costumes, characters, and lots of laughter. From Lo**ta Cannelloni to Detective Di Formaggio, no one was above suspicion! Grazie to everyone who brought their best Italian accents and biggest personalities to solve the case.

We had a wonderful day yesterday visiting Addison Housing Works' community at Armory Lane! We spoke with SASH Coordinator Diana Rule-Senzel (center) who has been there for over 12 years, and SASH participants Joanie (left) and Ann (right). Both participants couldn't say enough good things about the support they receive from Diana and what a difference SASH has made in their lives. 💚

So proud of the meaningful connections formed through this program at Cathedral Square's McAuley Square, and grateful to SASH Coordinator Daniel Tumwesigye for making it happen. We hope to see it expand to more communities next year!

What a beautiful way to spend a morning! SASH participants in Swanton recently gathered at the Parish Hall at Holy Trinity Church for a Paint and Plant activity, partnering with local florist Tipsy Daisy. Each participant painted their own pot and filled it with blooms to take home. Kudos to SASH Coordinator Pam Hunt with Champlain Housing Trust for making this happen!

The May SASH Beat is out! A newly published, peer-reviewed study confirms that SASH participants gained more than a year of healthy life and stayed home at far higher rates than expected.
