Happy to see so many come out in support of the proposed ban on data centers. The town board unanimously supported a proposal to bring the effort forward for passage after all input from residents and the county and town planning boards are factored in.

It is worth pointing out that this ban, on track for passage later this year, is in process because our current Town Supervisor introduced the Community Engagement Committee to Daniel Lamb, Deputy Supervisor of Dryden, who passed the first town-wide ban in New York State and spoke to our community several months ago.

Following that talk, Supervisor Moore immediately approached our town lawyer and our planning board to explore what such a ban would require. She found strong support—in fact our town lawyer is the principle architect of the ban being written for the Town of Torrey which is facing a current threat from a data center.

Our town has embraced the proposal with near-unanimity, and the board has balanced swift movement with careful consideration to ensure this law and its protections are set in place to preserve the things we love best about South Bristol. Several other Ontario County Town Supervisors have already indicated their interest in following Lisa’s lead to make sure Data Centers are banned throughout the Canandaigua Lake watershed.

This is what a model of positive leadership looks like. This is how a record of accomplishment is built: with determination, and collaboration, and a focus on getting results.

At least a dozen people spoke on Monday evening at a meeting in South Bristol over a proposed ban on data centers.

Come to the Public Hearing tonight at Town Hall at 6pm to voice YOUR opinion on BANNING DATA CENTERS. What has been happening in Lansing, NY on Cayuga Lake with Terawulf shows us exactly why we need to show our support for a ban NOW and not wait.

Canandaigua Lake is the third largest Finger Lake by volume—and there are data center projects citizens are fighting against already on both Seneca and Cayuga Lake (the 1st and 2nd largest Finger Lakes.)

In a town whose natural beauty we want to protect, in an environment where huge corporations are trying to extract everything they can from our natural world, stand up and tell our town board: “Not Here.”

We had a great day yesterday getting the word out about our upcoming Aaron Lipp concert!

The concert is FREE with donation of a shelf-stable food item for the Naples Open Cupboard!

Of course we also had 25 of the perfunctory nod or finger lifted from the steering wheel
And finally we had two people who hoisted the “bad” finger at us! 🖕

Well, I guess you can’t please everybody! 😂

Last night’s event at Cummings Nature Center—the last stop of Lisa’s “Listening Tour” through South Bristol—was so special. We always have a great time at these, where Lisa gets the chance to sit and talk with residents in each neighborhood, get the opportunity to hear what matters most to them and share her ideas for the future. After two years in row of doing this and more than a dozen events in all, it was an added touch to have both her peers from the Town Board participating. Jamie Hall and Chris Abraham have been incredible board members (and the year’s not done!) — it was great seeing Jamie reprise her role as emcee, reporting back the results of the surveys we take at each one of these events. And I always love making Chris bust out laughing during photo shoots! 🤣 Thanks to everyone who came out, and special gratitude to Eda Kapsis and Pamela Mills for hosting the event in this wonderful space! Also, much love to all our C4SB peeps and to our C4SB troubadour, Jack Jones, for playing “The Ballad of Lisa Moore” one ‘Moore’ time! Cheers everyone! 🙌💜🥂

What an incredible achievement to have been able to coordinate in her very first year as Town Supervisor!
The sole authority of the Town Supervisor to impact watershed health is (intentionally) very circumscribed, with most of a supervisor’s commitment coming from their participation on the Canandaigua Lake Watershed Council, which consists of nearly two dozen municipal leaders throughout the region.

This project was done in collaboration with US Fish & Wildlife, Finger Lakes Land Trust, and Ontario County Soil & Water Conservation. It came about largely due to the Supervisor’s commitment to outreach, relationship building, and collaboration, and the incredible dedication of these organizations’ leaders who work tirelessly to find good matches for projects and sites throughout the watershed.

These three large vernal pools will create new opportunities for wildlife habitat while forming a critical break wall against runoff that can contaminate the delicate ecosystem of our lake and its environs. Thank you so much to everyone who worked on completing this project so quickly!

We are so thrilled to announce our second Rock the Boat, Get Out and Vote concert at The Woods featuring Aaron Lipp!

We hope you will join us on Sunday, October 18th from 3-6pm at The Woods (6021 State Rte 21) for this free concert to get out the vote in Ontario County! We will have hours of incredible music from Aaron Lipp, amazing food, and beverages from local producers!

As with last year, while we ask for no money or campaign contributions we DO ask that you bring one shelf-stable food item or article of clothing which we will donate to the Naples Open Cupboard. Last year we had over 200 attendees and gathered nearly a ton of food for the pantry!

Just like last year, you will be able to have face-to-face conversations with local candidates, but this time we are pushing our reach beyond South Bristol to Supervisor candidates from Naples and Bristol, and regional candidates like Michael Mills for NYS Senate, Gladys Flores Garcia For NYS Assembly, Alissa Ellman for congress and more!

It’s the 25th anniversary of 9/11. I was in NYC and heard the boom when the first plane hit. I was under the towers in the subway for the second. My children were in school buses on their way to school. By the time I got to work, everyone had gathered in the outer vestibule to watch on the big screen tv as the towers fell. Few had heard the name Osama Bin Laden before then. I ran downstairs from my 34th Street office to go get my daughter from school at 84th. My son’s teacher took him home with her. We were terrified to cross bridges. (He stayed with her for 3 days till that bridge opened up again.) People covered in ash were on the street, many openly praying in clusters. It was apocalyptic. By the time we could get back home to Brooklyn (subways and bridges were closed), churches were open, prayer services being held. Where I was in Brooklyn Heights, one subway stop from Wall Street, papers floated through the air like oversized snow flakes. The toxic smell of burnt plastic encompassed the neighborhood haze. Phones were down for days. I couldn’t reach my parents to tell them we were ok. Many many were gone. Many many first responders ran toward the towers to give aid. The world changed overnight. There are many stories of sacrifice, generosity, compassion, and resilience as neighborhoods came together on stoops and in the streets to comfort one another as we began to learn more. Marchers congregated up Atlantic Avenue to protect shops and shopkeepers along Brooklyn’s major lane of Middle Eastern shops. We came together—not universally, not everywhere—but we came together. It is a heartbreaking memory and the sorrow led to the weeping well to commemorate the loss. The freedom tower rises above as a symbol of strength. Today, we remember.
