The Meow Mission

The Meow Mission We Fix Forgotten Felines The Meow Mission is a group of volunteers who deeply respect our community cats’ right to life.

We are dedicated to advocate for the protection and humane treatment of cats. The Meow Mission is dedicated to educating the public on the vacuum effect – a natural phenomenon where catching and killing free-roaming cats simply allows a new influx of cats to move in and replace those that were killed. Exterminating these cats is a futile exercise; in addition to being inhumane and unnecessary, this archaic, brutal practice is costly to the community.

A CARETAKER'S LOVE ❤️: GHOST KITTY 👻🐈‍⬛

Ghost Kitty's 👻🐈‍⬛ caretaker has been trying to trap🪤 him for weeks or longer. He's been injured 😿 and is in need of a snip ✂️🥜 and a tip!

FINALLY she got him yesterday 🎉👏🙌 with our drop trap. He was our first check-in ✅ for this week's Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) haul.

Grateful for caretakers who take the time and make the effort to trap 🪤. Grateful we finally got him in to fix ✂️🥜 and attend to his wounds ❤️‍🩹.

Stay tuned and we'll share an update later this week on Ghost Kitty 👻🐈‍⬛.

HAPPY CATURDAY 😺 FROM ROCKET 🚀

Rocket started on some rehab with us last night. With back-to-back illnesses, he was left pretty kennel bound and needs to strengthen his leggies back up.

ICYMI we posted a little sweet video 📹 of him taking his first steps 🐈and of course he just knocked out of the universe 🚀🌌👏!

TNR ALUMNI CHECK-IN: NORM 🎓😺 (FKA STRIPES)

Norm came to us in April to be neutered ✂️🥜, vaccinated 💉and checked out as he was looking pretty rough and sickly 😿. The vet found he had an upper respiratory infection 🤧 and so he stayed with us 🏨 a week to recover.❤️‍🩹.

We received a beautiful update from Norm's new caretaker 🏡🚜🌽 recently. Norm was actually relocated by his original caretaker after he was with us over safety concerns. He successfully acclimated following proper relocation procedures 🙌.

She wrote, "We have a barn and several acres and he loves it so far...Norm has free roam, but he hasn’t left the property yet. I have an AirTag 🔖 on him to watch where he goes. He is the best boy!!! When I come outside 🏡 and call his name (his new name is Norm), he comes running out to say hi 🐈💨. His favorite spots are watching everything from the barn and laying on the front porch."

We are so happy for Norm with his bougie Airtag🔖! 🫶😸

This is Norm's story 📖. This is his new life and we are thrilled for him! Clearly cherished and well cared for ❤️!

ROCKET'S 😺🚀 MESSAGE 💌

Rocket wanted us to follow up this evening to let everyone who donated to his fundraiser know how much he (and we) appreciate your generosity and caring for him and other community cats like him needing medical care ❤️.

We raised over $1,600 for our medical fund, covering Rocket's expenses and more for other kitties in need ❤️‍🩹!

Rocket's hanging in there 🙏. Lots of catnaps😻💤 and eating😋. We hope he's feeling 💯 soon.

RUN FREE GREY BABY 🐈‍⬛🌈🌉

Earlier this evening we did a FB Live 📹 and showed you all the new and familiar faces 😺🐱😼 visiting the Meow Mission 🏨 on extended stay trips.

What you didn't see is Grey Baby 🐈‍⬛, who sadly didn't return from the vet today 😿💔. We only knew her for a very short amount of time. What looked to be a very bad URI turned out to be a lot more complex and dire than just that. She had what was likely a congenital condition that impacted her esophagus's ability to function properly and her chance of recovery was very, very low.

Our vet recommended euthanasia and so she was lovingly helped cross the Rainbow Bridge 🐈‍⬛🌈🌉 peacefully, no longer suffering💔.

Why do we share this with you this evening? Because they all have stories. Your community cats who pass through our doors --- they matter to us.

We are here to tell their stories, honor and remember them. Wish them well, and pay our respects.

What we hope is to hold on to all they can teach us. Every lesson.

Today we helped one tiny community kitten cross the Rainbow Bridge 🌈🌉. Unimaginable suffering now 😿and to come with her condition had she not come to us 💔.

There are countless kittens and cats crawling all over our community tonight 🏠🏘️ 🏡. We cheer 📣👏 for the ones who survive and thrive. But we are here to spay and neuter 🪡✂️🥜 cats in our community 🏡 to prevent this kind of suffering Grey Baby 🐈‍⬛experienced, whatever that suffering looks like for that kitten or cat.

This is Grey Baby's lesson. We loved you Grey Baby 🩶. You are why we do what we do. We are glad we helped give you peace to end your suffering.

Thank you for teaching us 🩶. Run free Grey Baby 🌈🌉🐈‍⬛💨.

WE WANT YOUR FUGITIVES! 🐈💨💨💨

Recently we had a caretaker come up short at trapping this mom cat. She texted, "Epic fail. Trapped kitten only. When I let it out, I was attacked by a 2 oz terror and fell on my...!" 😹

We asked her if there was a story, she replied, "7️⃣ weeks, a roof 🏡 and a husband 👨‍💼who is a saint. 😇" 😸

Apparently mom had her kittens living in a roof area 🏡 that was inaccessible to the caretakers. They spent weeks trying to get the kittens to safety and there was one lone holdout that day. They said mom was never going to leave the last one stranded.

Thankfully the family are now happy, safe and fed! We'll be seeing them at the Mission soon!

This is a good reminder to all: if at first you don't succeed, try, try again! If you've haven't gotten all your colony cats fixed, missed a couple, or had a bust, fill out our form again and get on the schedule!

We can't let these cute little fur balls win! SPAY AND NEUTER is the GOAL!

We can help you succeed! Contact us to sign up!
