This page will share stories about the making and writing of the play, and actors.

A play, and road show, based on the stories, people, and the wild nature of Crested Butte in the 1970's, and specifically the iconic Forest Queen Hotel & Restaurant. The writer and producer James Foreman, and his family, moved to Crested Butte in the mid seventies while he was in the 4th grade. His Mom, BJ (now Betty), and Barry Cornman (Forest Queen Hotel Founder and Owner) had fallen in love and the family moved into the shack across the street from the Forest Queen. James began performing at the CB Mountain Theatre soon after arriving in Crested Butte, first in a Japanese play called Urishima Taro, and then the Eric Ross directed play by Tennessee Williams, Summer and Smoke. Acting came natural to James and he went on to perform in Minnesota and graduating from the historic American Academy of Dramatic Arts in Pasadena, CA. As a member of the Actors Society James has worked in Hollywood at Universal Studios, and Gower Studios, then performing in the San Francisco Bay Area as a Dancer and Choreographer.

It is beautiful morning in Crested Butte. The colors are changing before our eyes, and the last of the Summer flowers are hanging on, though very frosty.

Hello CB community and Crested Butte Mountain Theatre folks!
I am looking for some items for the upcoming show on Sept. 14th: CB in the 70's.

The interior of the Forest Queen was unique in the 70's, and for the set we are looking for the following. If you have anything we can borrow, or know of anyone, or any place, items can be found please reply to this post, messenger me, or see link below the list.
- Antique items, old saw, kerosene lamp, etc.
- Old or classic style wooden chairs that would be easy to move.
- Old table; 4 person, and or a 6 person table.
- 3 or 4 panel folding screen/room divider
- Hanging plants. A store that may sell them?
- Table setting items that are used in restaurants, classic or modern.
- Old wide mirror that would be no wider than 36 inches.

Thank you for your interest!

Beginning on Saturday, Sept. 7th an informal Actors n’ Theatre Workshop will be hosted by James Foreman, who began his love of acting at the Crested Butte Mountain Theatre in the 1970’s. James and his family lived across the street from the Old Town Hall, while running the Forest Queen.

As a member of the Actors Society, and graduate of the American Academy of Dramatic Arts, he will share his experience, as well as seek collaboration from the participants. This will culminate in a short production at the beginning of the show on Sept. 14th.

Please fill out the form, with the link provided, if you want to play a part in the play, help with the stage, or help on the night of the event. This is about having fun without pressure, and exploring the stories and characters of CB in the 1970’s. You may also interested to audition or be part of the full three act play next year. Any level of involvement welcome!
