🎃 Visit Friends of Somerville SEPAC at Monster Mash this Sunday!

Stop by our table for coloring sheets, fun activities for kids, and a chance to connect with other families!

We’re a volunteer-run 501(c)(3) nonprofit that raises funds to support Somerville SEPAC’s work and students with disabilities. Our fundraising priorities include IEP advocacy support for families, teacher-requested classroom supplies, family workshops and inclusive community events. Friends is a separate organization from Somerville SEPAC, united by the goal of helping students learn, participate and belong.

Look at some of the amazing bikes from our Bike & Ride Decorating Event! 🚲✨ Our community brought so much color, creativity, and joy, and together we raised $345 to support accessibility supplies, advocacy trainings, and practical family workshops.

Thank you to everyone who participated, volunteered, donated, or helped make the event possible! 💕

🎨🚲🛴♿ Come decorate with us!

Friends of Somerville SEPAC invites families to a fun and inclusive Bike & Ride Decorating Event. Kids can decorate their bikes, wheelchairs, and scooters, and everyone is welcome!

During Staff Appreciation Week, we want to take a moment to recognize the educators, paraprofessionals, specialists, counselors, service providers, and school staff supporting Somerville students every day.

The district’s recently released Special Education & Intervention Review repeatedly points to systems under strain: increasing student complexity, inconsistent intervention implementation, staffing challenges, and growing support needs across classrooms.

What stood out most to us was that the report consistently identifies implementation and system-capacity challenges- not lack of educator dedication or effort.

We know staff are carrying enormous responsibility in increasingly complex classroom environments while continuing to show up for students with care, creativity, flexibility, and commitment.

As families and advocates continue pushing for stronger systems, earlier intervention, more consistent supports, sustainable staffing, and equitable access for students, we also want to recognize the people doing this work every day inside those systems.

Thank you to all SPS educators and staff for the work you do to support students, families, and one another!
