🏕️ CUB SCOUTS PACK 79 – NOW RECRUITING FOR FALL 2026! ⚜️

We will be having an OPEN HOUSE and hot dog cookout on

THURSDAY, AUGUST 27th at 6 PM at the banquet hall located at the rear of First Christian church in Somerset

Bring the family to discover what Cub Scouts has to offer...

A new season of Cub Scouting meetings will begin this September 14th, and Pack 79 in Somerset is looking for new Cub Scouts!

👦 Who can join?
Cub Scouts is open to boys in Kindergarten through 5th Grade. Whether your son has been interested in Scouting for a while or your family knows absolutely nothing about it yet, we have room for you and would love to have him join us!

Cub Scouting is about getting kids away from the screens and into something real: camping, hiking, outdoor adventures, learning new skills, making friends, serving our community, building confidence, visiting cool places, and having FUN.

👨‍👩‍👦 Parents and guardians are welcome, too!
We are actively looking for adults who would like to become involved as Cub Scout leaders and volunteers. You don't need any previous Scouting experience. We can help you get started.

My name is Paul J. Grew, and I am the Cubmaster of Pack 79. I am an Eagle Scout and have been involved in Scouting for more than 40 years. Scouting has been an important part of my life, and I want today's boys to have the opportunity to experience the same adventures, friendships, skills, leadership, and memories that Scouting gave me. My son, Peter (10), is an Arrow of Light level Cub Scout in our Pack 79. My son, Paul Jr, soon will be working on his Eagle Scout with our parent Troop 79.

Saturday, April 18th marked a milestone I won’t soon forget — Pack 79 held its very first Cub Scout Bridging Ceremony.

We celebrated a year full of growth, adventure, and determination. The boys earned their ranks, received their awards, and proudly crossed the bridge into their next chapter — new neckerchiefs and slides in place, standing just a little taller than the year before.

To the parents: thank you. Your time, support, and steady encouragement are the quiet engine behind everything these Scouts accomplish.

To our Pack: what we built this year wasn’t just a program — it was a brotherhood, a proving ground, and a place where boys learn what they’re capable of.

This is just the beginning. Pack 79 is just getting started!

We’re already looking ahead, and we’d love to have every one of you back with us as we continue to grow, explore, and build something special together.

Here’s to year one — and to everything still ahead.
