Our club puts a unique twist on the traditional 50/50 drawing with our Community Hero Card Game.
At each meeting, members have the opportunity to purchase a card from a standard deck (52 cards plus 2 Jokers) for $5. They write their name on the card, and once the entire deck has been sold, one lucky winner receives $270.
But that's only half the story.
Instead of simply keeping the winnings, the recipient uses the funds to make a positive impact in our community. At a future meeting, they share their project and the difference it made—turning a fun club tradition into an opportunity for service.
At our Annual Presidents Induction Dinner in June, PDG Dan Dougherty was the lucky winner. As part of his Community Hero project, Dan chose to give back to the LaRosa Youth Club, where he attended as a child.
On a warm summer day, he surprised the campers with a large container of Rita's Italian Ice (Swedish Fish flavor), bringing plenty of smiles and a refreshing treat to everyone in attendance.
Thank you, Dan, for paying it forward and supporting an organization that meant so much to you growing up. And thank you to the dedicated staff at the LaRosa Youth Club for the incredible difference you make in the lives of our local youth every day.
