In November 2025, the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs announced a final rule extending the Program of Comprehensive Assistance for Family Caregivers (PCAFC) for “legacy” veterans and their caregivers through Sept. 30, 2028.

Under this extension, legacy participants and applicants will remain eligible for PCAFC and will not experience a reduction in their monthly stipend based on reassessment for an additional three years, except under limited circumstances.

Who qualifies?

Legacy participants: Veterans or service members whose caregivers were approved or designated by the VA as of Sept. 30, 2020.

Legacy applicants: Veterans or service members who applied for PCAFC before Oct. 1, 2020, and were accepted into the program on or after that date. (Note: The primary caregiver must remain the same individual named in the application).

For more information about VA Caregiver Program, visit caregiver.va.gov.

For questions or assistance in applying for the program, please contact your nearest DAV service office at benefitsquestions.org.

All services provided by DAV NSOs are free of charge. Your Local DAV National Service Officer (NSO) will help you file a claim. - DAV.org

Our wreaths arrived today. Ceremony Saturday 12:00pm. We will start placing wreaths at 1:00pm.

We ask that anyone arriving at any of the cemeteries to PLEASE wait until a Wreaths Across America coordinator arrives and provides directions.

Good evening Somerset residents. I want to make you all aware of some activity that is coming up on Tuesday 10/14/2025.

This project has been a long time coming. We have been working on refurbishing the WWII Memorial in front of the Library.

Back around 2001 Mr. Lime, the Veterans Service officer at the time, work with local supporters and had the WWII memorial erected. Over the years the weather has taken its toll. We looked into do a cleaning and repainting the names, but the erosion of the names was to much and the it would not be cost effective to complete.

We obtained a Grant in 2023 and had many local businesses and community donate in support of a NEW memorial. There were some challenges over the past couple of years, but thanks to working with Mr. Ullucci, we have been able to add some ARPA funds to cover the cost.

On Tuesday 10/14/2025 the monument company we hired to build the new memorial will be on site to disassemble the old monument in preparation of installing the new one on 10/27/2025.

We are currently in preliminary planning for a rededication ceremony so stay tuned for that update.

Please be patient and compassionate as we move through this change to continue to memorialize our WWII Veterans.

Thank you

Army and Air Force veteran Francis M. Dobrynski to be laid to rest with no family or friends present.

On Friday 17 October at approximately 11:30 Mr. Dobrynski will be receiving final funeral honors at Bourne National Veterans Cemetery on Cape Cod.
I have been informed by the funeral director of Cartmell funeral home of Plymouth that no friends or family will be there to pay final respects.
It is my request to everyone out there that some of you come down to be present so that he doesn’t leave alone. If we could get at least a few people to be present it would be a good thing.
As the cemetery has a few different committal shelters, I recommend that you arrive early and go to the administration building to inquire which one to go to.
Plymouths American Legion will have a firing party there to fire the final salute.
Please consider going.

Respectfully,
Jay Beauregard
Plymouth American Legion Color Guard
Commandant, Plymouth Marine Corps League — with Peter Blake and 10 others.
