Today's art is tomorrow's antiques!!!
For all you locals out there, if you're looking for antiques and collectibles, or just need a unique item to put in an empty corner of your living room, take a morning or an afternoon, and stop by this curated list of antiques, collectibles and more, all in the Enfield, Stafford and South Windsor area. In other words - VERY CLOSE.
In no particular order;
1. The Nostalgic Home at 49 Maple Street in Somers, CT, right near another well-hidden secret - our very own Tea House which echoes back to tea-times of the victorian age, is a great place to start. Check out Melissa's Zelek's website to find the days she is open:

also, here is more info on The Old Mill English Tea Room - This is a perfect place for a little get together to share an amazing sandwich, or pot of tea:

2. If you are looking for refinished antiques or want an expert refinish job on something you have, reach out to Monty at The Mallard's Nest located just over the border from Somers to Stafford. I had several occasional tables that my mother left behind. Monty gave them a new life. It was worth every penny to have him do it.

3. A new gem in Enfield is 2 Chefs Antiques. Originally meant to be a restaurant, the two owners chose to create a place to sell all of their collections instead. All I can say is "wow"...and don't be thrown off by the refrigerator full of gourmet foods. The two chefs also sell a variety of polish delectables from Kielbasa, to pierogies. Finally, their antiques are constantly changing. 2 Chef Antiques is definitely a half hour of your time. Or maybe an hour. There is tons to see.

4. A few years back, Enfield created their very own arts and collectibles collective at Southwood Antiques and Marketplace right near Dunk'n (isn't everything?) on Raffia Road in the southern part of town. You'll always find something in there, and it's fun to poke around.

5. There are so many more places to check out, however, I would remiss if I didn't include Perfect Piece consignment in South Windsor, just about a mile on this side of Evergreen Walk. They have everything from contemporary art to antiques and seem to specialize in quality used furniture. Whether you have something to sell or something to buy, A Perfect Piece is the perfect place to find the perfect thing you didn't know you needed.

This listing is just a few of the nearby places that can easily kill an hour when you are looking for something to do but don't want to commit your wallet or your afternoon.
I have the skinny on antique stores in all four directions. If you want to know of a good place to go to find something, feel free to reach out.
Enjoy!!!
