An organization of historically minded citizens that are seeking to preserve the local history in and around Society Hill, SC. We are a group of concerned citizens and local preservationists that have joined together to enrich the present and inspire the future. Join us on the second Thursday of each month as we discuss future projects, upcoming events, and how you too can support the important mission of the Long Bluff Historical Society.

Join the Darlington County Historical Commission & Museum and Preservation South Carolina for a FREE community event honoring Lawrence Reese, a visionary Black entrepreneur, carpenter, and architect whose legacy shaped Darlington’s historic West Broad Street district.

🏠 Learn about the ongoing restoration of the E.T. West House, one of Reese’s architectural masterpieces.
🍽️ Enjoy a sample tasting menu featuring foods popular during Reese’s era.
đźš— After the event, take a short drive to tour the West House and see history coming back to life!
