🌍 Invest just 2 hours and help create smiles at Echo Glen and in Mexico.
These smiles from children in the Mathare slums of Kenya tell a powerful story.
The encouraging cards and decorated t-shirts created by youth at Echo Glen traveled thousands of miles, bringing hope, joy, and the reminder that someone cares. What seemed like a simple project became a priceless gift to children living in extreme poverty.
But something else happened, too. The youth who created these gifts discovered their own power to make a difference. They experienced the joy of giving, creativity, and connection beyond their own circumstances.

Join us for just 2 hours as we partner with Echo Glen youth to create sock puppets for children living in poverty in Calmalú, Mexico through Open Arms Childcare.
Together, we'll help the residents use their creativity and imagination to make something special that will bring laughter and comfort to a child they've never met.

Every young person at Echo Glen has a story. Many have experienced significant trauma, loss, and challenges long before arriving on campus. What they need most are caring adults who show up, listen, encourage, and help them see a future filled with hope and possibility.

As a volunteer, you can help youth:
❤️ Build healthy relationships with positive role models
❤️ Develop confidence and life skills
❤️ Discover new interests and talents
❤️ Experience the simple but powerful message that they matter

Whether your passion is cooking, gardening, art, dogs, education, or simply spending time encouraging youth, there is a place for you to make a difference.

Can't make it this month? No problem! Volunteer orientations are held on the 3rd Wednesday of every month.

🚨 MORE INSTRUCTORS NEEDED: Help Us Expand the Impact!
Yoga has been helpful to the youth to manage stress, build resilience, and develop healthy coping skills. More youth are waiting for these opportunities—we need more instructors to make it happen.

❤️ Join Us: Sock Puppet Service Project with Echo Glen Youth! ❤️

Our youth love this project because it lets them use their creativity to bring joy to others. Together, we will make sock puppets for children living in poverty in Camalú, Mexico (through Open Arms Childcare).

As a volunteer, you’ll pair up with 3–4 youth to design puppets, share stories, and connect. No artistic talent needed! This is the perfect, low-pressure opportunity for first-time volunteers to see the incredible potential of these young people firsthand.

Impact: Every puppet is a reminder to a child in Mexico that someone cares, while creating meaningful local connections.

A massive THANK YOU to our incredible community!
We are still floating on air after Wednesday’s event! You truly demonstrated that this community cares deeply and appreciates everything the staff does for youth from all over the state. Together, we showered them with some well-deserved pampering.
This beautiful day was made possible by an incredible network of local businesses, faith communities, and individuals who stepped up in a huge way:

• Our Sweet Bakers: The many community members who baked a mountain of love into homemade cookies 🍪

The impact of your collective generosity was best summed up by Stephanie, Associate Superintendent, who shared:
"I cannot thank you enough for everything your volunteer group did for us yesterday. In all my time at Echo Glen, I have never seen so much done for our staff. You all truly went above and beyond... So many staff members showed up and genuinely felt appreciated because of everything your team did. The positive impact was felt throughout the campus, and staff shared how meaningful the experience was... Your kindness and dedication made a tremendous difference."

🚨 MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE? Not for this pup. 🚨

This brave little recruit accepted a top-secret assignment:
🐾 Escape the kennel.
🐾 Steal your heart.
🐾 Find a forever home. ❤️

While his fence-climbing skills earned a solid 10/10, the youth in Echo Glen's Canine Connections Rescue Program spent much more time teaching him important skills—like walking nicely on a leash and being the best companion he can be.

Through Canine Connections, rescue dogs get a second chance while youth learn responsibility, patience, compassion, and life-changing skills. It's a mission that transforms both dogs and young people.

The good news? This little climber has already completed his mission and found his forever family! 🏡

But stay tuned—more adorable pups are on their way and beginning their own training journey as they prepare to find THEIR forever homes.

Because every dog—and every young person—deserves a second chance. 🐶💙

Good News! Our Staff Appreciation Event has been moved to June 3rd from 1–4 PM — gives us more time to prepare to overwhelm this incredible staff with gratitude. Every single day, they invest their lives in serving and supporting some of the most traumatized and at-risk youth from across Washington State.
Despite emotional and physical challenges, staffing shortages, and lower pay, they continue showing up faithfully to help young lives be rewritten. ❤️ Now, it’s our turn to remind them they are seen, valued, and not alone.
