Hey Snohomies, here's a wonderful opportunity to fix some of those broken household items instead of sending them off to the landfill. Thank you to WSU Snohomish County Extension Sustainable Community Stewards for continuing to help our community create a more circular economy.

You may know the Repair Cafe fixes bikes, jewelry, clothing, electronics, lamps, vacuums, toys... okay you get the idea.
But did you know we also have computer software experts? Our volunteers can debug your laptop, improve efficiency, help you navigate unfamiliar apps and software, and even put your device on a whole new operating system!
Linux is an alternative to Microsoft if your laptop is working fine but can't handle the upgrade to Windows 11. Linux is free, community-owned, and continuously developed. But many people hesitate to take the plunge. That’s why we are offering help installing and navigating Linux at our upcoming Repair Cafés. Will you join us?
Our volunteers will help you download, install, and use this new operating system at the Repair Cafe.

Please back up your device’s data to an external hard drive or USB before the event to speed up the process. Installing Linux will delete all data from your computer.

Come see us at the Snohomish Library on Saturday, August 15th from 10am to 2pm and we'll get your device sorted!

Congratulations to Green Snohomish member Candice Jarrett, proud caretaker, friend, and owner of our region's most magnificent Chinese Chestnut tree! She has received the official Heritage Tree designation from the City of Snohomish and celebrated the event with community members. Special thanks to David Bigelow, certified arborist at Higher for Hire, for shepherding this tree and other Snohomish trees into protected and heritage status. Present and future generations will be thankful!

Green Snohomish volunteers Doug, Brian, and Stacie had a wonderful time at the first annual Snohomish Family Science Day! There were many cool hands-on science activities for all ages. Doug shared his expertise and enthusiasm for plants with young scientists in the making. Lots of families got to take home experiments that reveal the magic of plant reproduction over time. Stacie and Brian shared the litter pickup game with kids wanting to have fun keeping their environment clean. We Look forward to next year's event.

Green Snohomish will be joining forces with the Historic Downtown Snohomish Association for a community clean up, coming up soon. Hope to see you there!

Let’s give our downtown a little extra care. 🌳 Join us Saturday, May 30th from 8:30–10:00 AM for a community cleanup day focused on First Street, Kla Ha Ya Park, and nearby areas. Every volunteer makes a visible difference and as a thank you, enjoy a complimentary cup of frozen yogurt 🍨from when we wrap up.

Last weekend we celebrated the change of seasons with the Snohomish Tree Tour, spring edition. Some trees were just beginning to pop leaves out while others are already drinking the sunshine with a full canopy of green. There were also plenty of blooms to see along the way. Come celebrate spring with a tour of Snohomish's magnificent heritage trees. Tours will be begin at 11 am on Saturday, April 25th. Sign-ups are first-come, first-served, starting at 10:30 AM. This Saturday at 5pm, join us to learn about the different ways people are reacting to changes in our Earth's climate. See a range of human and artistic response to what may be coming next. Drama, comedy, satire, films of hope and films of sadness, documentary and animation: heart and vision have a home at the Climate Future Film Festival. This film event will be cohosted by Green Snohomish and St. John's Episcopal Church.

Ever heard of a Tree Rescue? While our community benefits more from you keeping your trees, If for some reason you have to remove a mature, healthy tree from yard, DON'T CUT IT DOWN! One of our awesome local nurseries might remove it for you, potentially at no cost to you. For the Snohomish area call Big Trees, Inc and if you're in the Monroe area, call Woods Creek Nursery. They might be able to give your tree a new home!
