Green Snohomish will be joining forces with the Historic Downtown Snohomish Association for a community clean up, coming up soon. Hope to see you there!

Let’s give our downtown a little extra care. 🌳 Join us Saturday, May 30th from 8:30–10:00 AM for a community cleanup day focused on First Street, Kla Ha Ya Park, and nearby areas. Every volunteer makes a visible difference and as a thank you, enjoy a complimentary cup of frozen yogurt 🍨from when we wrap up.

Last weekend we celebrated the change of seasons with the Snohomish Tree Tour, spring edition. Some trees were just beginning to pop leaves out while others are already drinking the sunshine with a full canopy of green. There were also plenty of blooms to see along the way. Thanks for joining us if you were able to make it.

This Saturday at 5pm, join us to learn about the different ways people are reacting to changes in our Earth's climate. See a range of human and artistic response to what may be coming next. Drama, comedy, satire, films of hope and films of sadness, documentary and animation: heart and vision have a home at the Climate Future Film Festival. This film event will be cohosted by Green Snohomish and St. John's Episcopal Church.

Ever heard of a Tree Rescue? While our community benefits more from you keeping your trees, If for some reason you have to remove a mature, healthy tree from yard, DON'T CUT IT DOWN! One of our awesome local nurseries might remove it for you, potentially at no cost to you. For the Snohomish area call Big Trees, Inc and if you're in the Monroe area, call Woods Creek Nursery. They might be able to give your tree a new home!

At Big Trees Inc we are passionate about tree rescue near me. We go above and beyond to rescue beautiful trees and find them a new home.

Can large mature trees really be "replaced" by planting new trees? Science is telling us, not so much. As a tree grows, its roots develop intimate relationships with underground fungi, which provide water and nutrients to the roots in exchange for sugars. Over time, a tree can develop connections with many different species of fungi, offering the tree more protection from environmental stressors. When a tree is removed, a new tree will need years, decades, centuries to rebuild this diversity in our soil. As much as possible, we need to protect our large, mature trees.

The researchers discovered a hidden world of life among the roots of Chile's ancient alerce trees. Here's why that's important.

Thanks to all 9 volunteers who braved the wet and muddy conditions last Saturday. We cleaned quite a bit of garbage at the 2nd Street and 6th Street bridges. Here’s the tally: 16 bags of garbage, 2 tents, 2 sleeping bags, 1 blanket, and 1 carpet remnant! The Pilchuck River is a bit cleaner today.
