Sneads Ferry Rotary Club

Sneads Ferry Rotary Club The main objective of Rotary is service – in the community, in the workplace, and throughout the world. The Rotary motto is Service Above Self.

Rotarians develop community service projects that address many of today’s most critical issues, such as children at risk, poverty and hunger, the environment, illiteracy, and violence. They also support programs for youth, educational opportunities and international exchanges for students, teachers, and other professionals, and vocational and career development. The Club was chartered in March 199

3 with 25 members as the Rotary Club of Stump Sound, the township in which Sneads Ferry is located. The Club name was changed to the Rotary Club of Sneads Ferry in December 1996 to reflect the base of its membership. From the very beginning in 1993, the clubs primary focus has been to help the needy, elderly and youth of our community. The number of projects focused on Sneads Ferry and North Carolina has steadily grown over the years to over 25 projects in effect today. The club is also a leader in meeting our international obligations as active supporters of the Group Study Exchange, Eradicating Polio Worldwide and funding a missionary-run refugee camp in Los Andes, Peru. The clubs budget for local and international projects has steadily risen over the last ten years as its primary fundraiser, the Sneads Ferry Rotary Club King Mackerel Tournament, has grown into one of the premier tournaments in North Carolina. bService Above Self is truly the motto of the club and it has been kept in the forefront of all our activities by exceptional leadership at the Club-President and Member-level. Our Past Presidents who have ensured the success of the club are: 1992-1993 John Henderson, 1993-1994 Toni Sturm, 1994-1995 Jim Lawrence, 1995-1996 Kerry Clancy, 1996-1997 Bob McLaughlin, 1997-1998 Gerald Pickett, 1998-1999 Mike Daigneault, 1999-2000 Bill Keller, 2000-2001 Richard Crothers, 2001-2002 Carolyn Lankas, 2002-2003 Ricky Maready and 2003-2004 Colleen Rigby. The Sneads Ferry Rotary Club is proved to be a leadership forum in the growth and welfare of our community. We will continue to be the hallmark club for Service Above Self.
