Why would a 13-year-old do this?
In Fernley, Nevada, 13-year-old William Preston made a decision far beyond his age. His single mother, Krystal Preston, was struggling without a reliable car, making daily life harder and limiting her ability to work and get around. William noticed the stress it caused her and decided he wanted to help in the only way he knew how.
Instead of asking for help or waiting for someone else to step in, William sold his Xbox and began mowing lawns to earn extra money. He eventually found a local woman selling a used 1999 Chevrolet Metro. After explaining his situation and negotiating, she agreed to sell him the car.
When William surprised his mother with the vehicle, she was overwhelmed with emotion. She later said she had never imagined her son would do something so selfless at such a young age. The story quickly spread, touching people across the internet and sparking conversations about empathy, responsibility, and maturity.
