Join us on 9/10 for our discussion of Blood in My Eye by George Jackson.

Session 1 will be on September 10th from 6-7:30pm at the Slidell Robert Blvd. Library. You can also attend virtually!

For session 1, we'll be finishing George Jackson's "Blood in My Eye." "Blood in My Eye" was written in 1972 while Jackson was in prison. He was killed days after finishing the text. Within he discusses Marxism-Leninism, guerrilla warfare, and illustrates harrowing realities about being black in Amerika. We'll be reading from the section entitled "The Amerikan Mind" until the end of the book.

If you missed our last session in August, don't be afraid to come out and join the discussion anyway.

Claudette Colvin was born on this day in 1939. She was 15 years old when she refused to give up her seat on a Montgomery, Alabama, bus for a white person, nine months before Rosa Parks famously inspired the Montgomery bus boycott for the same act.

Colvin became one of the five plaintiffs in the court case Browder v. Gayle, which determined that bus segregation in Montgomery was unconstitutional.
