We had some very special help today from actor Chris Noth, *Mr. Big in S*x and the City and Detective Mike Logan in Law & Order*, who generously lent his voice to help bring attention to the dogs in our care.

We are incredibly grateful for his support and for helping raise awareness about the many wonderful dogs still searching for loving homes. ❤️🐾

While their stories are all different, they share one thing in common—they’re waiting for someone to give them a chance. Many have spent far too long in the shelter and deserve to know what it feels like to be part of a family.

🎉 HOME AT LAST! 🎉
After spending more than 745 days in the shelter, Choco’s wait is finally over.
Today, this handsome boy walked out of the shelter and into a loving home of his very own. ❤️
There are no words to express how happy we are for Choco. After more than two years of waiting, he finally has the second chance he deserves.
A heartfelt thank you to his adopter for opening your home and your heart. You didn’t just adopt a dog—you saved a life.
Congratulations, Choco. Welcome home. 🏡🐾 We are beyond happy for your new beginning.

📢 Holiday Notice

The Slidell Animal Shelter will be closed on Friday, June 19, in observance of Juneteenth.

HOWEVER, the Animal Assistance League of Slidell will OPEN the shelter for adoptions and foster placements 10-2.

🌀Provided weather and flooding conditions allow.

Please note that no animal intakes, owner surrenders, or other shelter services will be available on Friday.

The Slidell Animal Shelter will resume normal operations and regular business hours on Monday.

Thank you for your understanding and please consider fostering or adopting a dog during our crises.

Sparky, while an energetic dog, is a sweet dog at heart. Such a goofy guy but so lovable. He is also one of our longest residents at over 500 days. Please open your heart and homes for these animals in need. ❤️‍🩹♥️

🚨🐾 BREAKING: SPARKY MCPUFF BOOKED AT SLIDELL ANIMAL SHELTER 🐾🚨

We regret to inform the public that Sparky McPuff (ID ) has officially been booked after serving, as of May 1, 508 days for a LONG list of very serious offenses… 😳👇

Charges include:
🔹 Excessive tail wagging in a public setting
🔹 Possession of an illegal amount of cuteness
🔹 Attempted theft of hearts (multiple counts 💔➡️❤️)
🔹 Public display of tongue without a permit 👅
🔹 Loitering… just waiting for someone to love him

Despite his “record,” Sparky is considered adoptable and may be released immediately into a loving home. In fact… we’re hoping someone comes to bail him out ASAP! 🙏

AND during the Bissell Pet Foundation Spring National Event, his adoption fee is $25. — and we require a heart big enough to love him. ❤️

We need your help. Councilman Brownfield is show with Choco, one of our longest residents at almost 800 days. That’s over 2 years sitting in a kennel 24/7. Please open your heart and homes. ❤️‍🩹♥️

🆘URGENT: Critical Shelter Overcrowding – All Dog Adoption Fees Waived🆘

The Slidell Animal Shelter is at critical capacity. We received 13 dogs yesterday and we are out of kennel space. Dogs are in several pop up kennels.

Without immediate fosters or adopters, dogs are at imminent risk of euthanasia. This is not a decision we want to make, but it is where we are.

Effective immediately, all adoption fees for all dogs are WAIVED. $0 to adopt.

How you can help today:
1. Adopt: Give a dog a permanent home
2. Foster: We will provide all supplies. You provide a safe space
3. Share: Please share this post to help these dogs be seen
