Hearts United is the child welfare focused project of Junior Auxiliary of Slidell creating lasting impact in the basic needs of children in our community through long lasting relationships.

This year our Hearts United committee organized our annual School Supply Drive, collecting supplies over two weekends. Over 2100 items were collected and distributed to 9 area schools.

Our Provisional class developed Disconnect to Reconnect—an afternoon of fun for teens and JAS members with no phones! Based on the positive feedback from the teens, our chapter has adopted this program and is looking forward to hosting it again.

We held our 2nd annual Future You college and career fair at Slidell Junior High. This event is specifically tailored to junior high students bringing post-secondary opportunities from 21 presenters to the school. Students are able to interact with each presenter and ask questions to guide their post graduation career path. This year 486 students participated.

Throughout the year, members gathered to make bows which were distributed to local elementary schools to boost morale for students.

We also wrote over 50 cards and letters of encouragement to foster parents as well as fulfilled a few Christmas wish lists of foster children in the St. Tammany Parish area.
