The HODC Associate Board hosted a successful Sip & Social with a great turnout of members, friends, family, and community supporters.

The event provided an opportunity to build relationships, share highlights from the board’s first six months, and introduce more people to HODC’s mission and impact.

It was a great evening of connection and community, and we look forward to building on this momentum.

A great day for a Homecoming at Poupard Place in Northbrook! Volunteers, led by HODC's Associate Board, assembled welcome baskets and is hosting a celebration on the gorgeous sunny day. Welcome home Poupard residents! Thanks to the Associate Board members for organizing this event, and FHLBank Chicago and FedEx Cares for sponsoring the day.

What does it look like to spend a summer helping build place people call home?

For Gavin, it meant being right in the middle of an exciting season at HODC: helping with the opening of Poupard Place in Northbrook, preparing Mt. Pisgah Apartments in Evanston for construction, and learning from the people who make it all happen.

As a participant in the Illinois Housing Council's Emerging Leaders Internship Program, Gavin brought curiosity and energy to our Development team. We are grateful for everything he contributed and proud to have played a small part in his journey into the housing field.

Before he headed back to class, Gavin shared his own reflections on his summer with us and what he learned. We are excited to see where he goes next. The future of housing is being built by people like Gavin!

A home is a place to feel safe, put down roots, and build a life.

That is what Taylor Place means to the 50 households who now call it home.

Creating affordable housing takes many people coming together with a shared belief that everyone deserves a place to belong. Taylor Place is a powerful example of what can happen when local leaders, community partners, financial institutions, and affordable housing organizations work together.

We are grateful to Congressman Bill Foster, FHLBank Chicago, and all of the partners who helped make these homes possible.

Because when we create more affordable homes, we are creating opportunities for people to thrive.
