Today is Stillbirth Remembrance Day.
Before Maeve, I didn’t know how common stillbirth was.. I didn’t know that in the U.S., 1 in 175 pregnancies ends in stillbirth. That’s over 21,000 babies every single year — babies who never got to take a breath, whose lives leave their families forever changed.
My daughter, Maeve, is one of them. She was perfect, full-term, and so SO loved. And yet, her heartbeat stopped before she ever opened her eyes to the world. I carried her, I held her, and then I had to say goodbye for the very first & last time.
This is the reality so many families face — grief that is invisible to most, but absolutely devastating to those who live it.
Today, I remember Maeve. I remember every baby gone too soon. And I ask you to remember with me. Say their names. Hold space for their parents & siblings. Understand that love doesn’t end, even when a heartbeat does.
Because our babies matter. Maeve matters. Always.
