Missed yesterday's distribution? No problem! As long as you were registered for bulbs, one of our volunteers will be dropping them off to remaining households this week as time allows. Drop-offs are no contact, and bulbs will be left at the front door of the address used for registration.

Dusk-to-Dawn bulbs are installed just like any other lightbulb! Just screw them into your standard exterior light fixtures, flip the switch on, and leave them be. The bulbs will turn themselves on and off automatically. Dark outside? The bulbs will turn themselves on. Nice and bright out? They'll turn themselves off to conserve energy.

Households that requested a volunteer to deliver them should keep an eye out this week, as we will be leaving them at the front door of the address provided during registration. Volunteers will be delivering bulbs as they are able to throughout the week.

We are keeping an eye on the forecast. If there is lightning nearby, or heavy rain during that 6-8PM timeframe, we will shift to adding everyone to the volunteer delivery list - the safety of our neighbors is our first priority, and we don't want to be the reason anyone is out in unsafe weather! ⛈

City pools are closing on August 9th for the season 🏊
Not ready to put those arm floaties away? Check out some of these other spaces:
Pioneer Splash Pad and Hayward Splash Pad
• Beginning Sunday, Aug. 23, both locations will be open from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturdays, Sundays and Labor Day only.
• Both splash pads will close for the season at 8 p.m. Monday, Sept. 7.

Midco Aquatic Center Splash Pad
• The splash pad will close for the season at 5 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 30.

Great Plains Zoo Splash Pad
• The splash pad will close for the season at the end of the day Monday, Sept. 7.

Jacobson Plaza Splash Pad
• The splash pad will remain open through 8 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 20, before closing for the season.

Year-round indoor aquatic activity opportunities are also available at the Midco Aquatic Center and Westside Recreation Center! Summer swim passes can be used at both locations through Labor Day.

In 2025, Kuehn Pool and Laurel Oak pools were open until August 31. Both those pools were open until Sept. 1 in 2024.

Have you heard? Residents can now be more 'connected' to what's happening in Sioux Falls! 🗞️

Neighborhood Connect is a platform that allows residents to select specific locations and receive alerts about the records and activities they choose to follow (think: code enforcement cases, arts, culture and events, building permits, utilities and trees, and land use and site development).

To create alerts, users can visit neighborhoodconnect.siouxfalls.gov, create an account and select the datasets they want to follow.

After selecting a dataset, users can search for an address, define the area they want to monitor using the mile-radius slider and select "Create Alert."

To help neighbors 'Light Up' their home, we have received limited grant funding from the City of Sioux Falls to help provide dusk-to-dawn lightbulbs for Granite Valley Neighborhood residents. These bulbs go in a standard exterior light socket (no special wiring needed), and turn on automatically at sunset and stay on until sunrise - so you only need to flip the switch once!

Lightbulb Moment💡

We know safety is a hot topic for residents, and one step in the right direction is providing more adequate lighting in the neighborhood. Well-lit sidewalks and homes deter ill-intended behavior, help keep walkers safe when it's dark, and keep us all a bit safer!
