What a powerful day in Rapid City. 💙
I want to sincerely thank Elevate Rapid City for continuing to prioritize conversations around justice-informed employment, trauma-informed leadership, recovery, reentry, and workforce engagement.
This conversation matters.
Not just for employers.
Not just for corrections.
Not just for nonprofits.
For ALL of us.
One of the biggest takeaways from today’s training was the reminder that successful reentry and recovery are community responsibilities. Employers, families, churches, nonprofits, mentors, housing providers, workforce leaders, and everyday community members all play a role in helping people heal, stabilize, grow, and reintegrate.
I was deeply encouraged by the people in the room today:
leaders willing to learn,
professionals willing to listen,
and community members willing to lean into hard but necessary conversations about trauma, accountability, emotional intelligence, recovery, resilience, and human potential.
We talked about:
* ACEs and trauma
* emotional regulation
* person-first language
* credible messengers
* recovery and reintegration
* housing and employment barriers
* leadership and psychological safety
* and the importance of treating people like human beings instead of labels
I truly believe: A trauma-informed community is in the best interest of everyone.
And I also believe: Human potential is infinite.
Thank you again to everyone who showed up, participated, shared openly, and contributed to such a rich discussion today. I left Rapid City feeling energized, grateful, hopeful, and excited for future collaboration and partnership opportunities.
South Dakota is having important conversations right now. And I’m honored to be part of them.
The work continues. 💙
