George McGovern Middle School PTA

08/14/2026

👋🏼 Hello from your former George McGovern PTA! That’s right… former.

At the end of last school year, we met with school staff and came to the decision that the PTA would be dissolved. Moving forward, the school will be creating a booster club to support the school and our students.

Because of that change, this account will no longer be active. 🚫

As a former PTA member for the past four years, I want to sincerely thank everyone who supported our mission, volunteered their time, donated, encouraged us, and—most importantly—showed up for the kids.

Here’s to a fresh start and an amazing 2026–27 school year! 💜🖤🦅

📣 GMMS PTA Families — One Last Meeting for the School Year!

Our final PTA meeting of the 2025–2026 school year is Tuesday, May 12 from 6:00–7:00 PM at GMMS.

As several of our amazing board members move on next year, we’re looking for new volunteers to help lead PTA for the 2026–2027 school year.

If you’re a current 6th or 7th grade parent, we would especially love to have you join us and consider getting involved!

Open board positions include:
🦅 President
🦅 Vice President
🦅 Secretary
🦅 Treasurer
🦅 Membership / Social Media Chair

PTA meets about every other month for roughly 1 hour, making this a manageable way to support GMMS, have a voice in your child’s school, and earn volunteer hours along the way.

Even if you’re just curious, come check it out! Fresh ideas and new faces help keep our PTA strong 💜🖤

If your student is moving on from GMMS (or you’re a teacher), we’d be so grateful if you’d share this with a friend who may be interested!

Thank you for a fantastic school year! 🦅

We appreciate our teachers every week, but this week we get to take some special time to show them!

The GMMS PTA provided a bunch of fruit for teachers and staff to munch on today and maybe even throughout the week!

A tremendous shout out and thank you to Hy-Vee on Marion Road for the generous donation to make this possible!

As the school year wraps up, we have one more chance to come together and help shape what next year looks like at GMMS 💜🖤

Join us for the final PTA meeting of the 2025–2026 school year:

📅 Tuesday, May 12
🕕 6:00 PM
📍 GMMS Commons

This isn’t just another meeting—it’s your opportunity to:
• Have a voice in what PTA supports next year
• Share ideas that directly impact students and staff
• Connect with other parents
• Find a way to be involved that actually fits your schedule

We’re also looking for new board members and volunteers as several of our current members move on.
New faces + fresh ideas truly make a difference, and we’d love to have you be part of it!

Incoming 6th grade families—this is for you too!
Such a great way to get connected before the school year starts.

This year, PTA helped support:
✨ Student celebrations
✨ Teacher appreciation + conference snacks
✨ Classroom supplies
✨ Music awards
✨ Spirit wear
✨ Attendance initiatives

Let’s keep that momentum going 🙌

👉 Drop a comment or message if you’re thinking about coming or want to learn more—we’d love to connect with you!🦅

GMMS Spirit Wear Volunteers Needed! 💜🖤

We are still looking for volunteers to help with Spirit Wear Sales during conferences, and we would love your help!

Each shift is just 1.5 hours, and there is ALWAYS a PTA board member present — no one will be left to run it alone.

You do NOT have to be on the PTA to help.
All you need to do is:

*Assist with this simple fundraiser

That's it — easy and low pressure!

Thursday, March 5
