Sioux Valley Optimist Club of Sioux Falls, SD

10/02/2026

What a night! 🎉 Last night the Sioux Valley Optimist Club enjoyed an evening of celebration at our annual Board Induction Ceremony & Club Social.

We started with reflecting on an incredible Optimist Year– participating in various volunteer opportunities, learning from local organizations, and making an impact on area youth! We started by recognizing Past Board Members, Carla and Freeman, for their many years of service on our Board. We announced and celebrated our Optimist of the Year, Sarah! And lastly, we thanked our 2025-2026 SVOC President, Gabby, for all she did this past year as the leader of our Club.

A new Optimist Year means swearing in the Board with both new and familiar faces! Thank you to Past DMM Governor, Cricket Palmer, for joining us and inducting our Board and 2026-2027 President, Kendra.

Lastly, we ended the night welcoming and inducting two new members, Kristin and Mary, to our club.

Thank you to all who attended and to all members for making this Club so special! Here’s to another great Optimist Year!

Every child deserves a birthday celebration! 🎉

At the Sioux Valley Optimist Club, we’re passionate about making a difference in the lives of children in our community. One of the ways we do that is by teaming up with the Children's Home Society of South Dakota each month to celebrate the birthdays of the wonderful kids in their care. Today, these SVOC members (and Masey) celebrated September’s birthday kids with cake, ice cream, presents, and singing “Happy Birthday”.

These may seem like simple moments, but we love reminding these kids how important, valued, and celebrated they are. 💙

⛳️💙 THAT’S A WRAP! 💙⛳️

Another Sioux Valley Optimist Club Golf Tournament is officially in the books and we are feeling incredibly grateful!

This is our biggest fundraiser of the year, and a day like this simply doesn’t happen without a whole lot of people coming together. To every golfer who spent the day with us, every volunteer who gave their time, and every business that chose to support our club, THANK YOU!

The money raised through this tournament helps SVOC continue doing what we love most: supporting kids and organizations throughout our community. Your support goes so much further than one day on the golf course 💙

A very special thank you to Kara and our incredible Golf Tournament Committee! There are so many hours of planning, organizing, coordinating, phone calls, emails, and behind-the-scenes work that go into making this tournament happen. Kara, thank you for leading the charge and putting so much time and heart into making this event a success. And to every committee member who helped bring it all together, we are so grateful for you. This day simply would not have happened without this team!

We also want to recognize the incredible businesses that helped make this year’s tournament possible!

One last board meeting for 2025-2026 Optimist year!

Today was a little bittersweet as we wrapped up our final board meeting of the year and, for me, my last one as President of the Sioux Valley Optimist Club.

What a year it has been! I am incredibly grateful for this group of people who have shared their time, ideas, energy, and hearts to help make our little club stronger and continue doing some pretty amazing things for kids in our community.

We also celebrated Carla and Freeman as they wrap up their time on our board. Thank you both for everything you have given to the SVOC. Your time and commitment have made a difference, and we are so lucky to have had you at the table 💙

And while my year as President is coming to an end, I’m not going far! I’ll be moving into the Past President role and am SO excited to cheer on Kendra as she takes the reins as our 2026-2027 President. I know our club is in wonderful hands, and I cannot wait to see where she takes us next!

There is a lot of exciting momentum around the SVOC right now, and it feels like the perfect way to close out one year and head into another.

Here’s to another year of friendship, service, and doing good for kids in our community! 💙
