Bloodbath in Mararaban Rido: One Butchered, Nursing Mother of 11-Month-Old Dragged to Forest as Residents Flee

Mararaban Rido Bleeds Again

Suspected Fulani ethnic militia on 21, September , 2026 unleashed fresh horror on Maruba, Mararaban Rido, leaving blood on the floor and a baby crying for a mother who may never return.

The attackers invaded the Christian community, butchered one man identified as Mr. Vinas, and abducted four people — including an 18-year-old nursing mother. The militia dragged her away into Rijana forest, leaving her 11-month-old baby behind.
Two other Christians were also kidnapped

Speaking to TruthNigeria, the distraught grandfather of the abandoned child said he is helpless as the infant cries endlessly for his mother.

Resident Elijah Bala confirmed Vinas was butchered before his wife was seized and taken away.

Locals say Fulani militia have laid siege to the area for over 8 months. Despite repeated reports to the Nigerian Army and government, no action has been taken.

Panic has now gripped the area as residents flee Maruba, Government Day and surrounding communities.

He has not learned to use his hands and feet, or to say the word “mama.” But he is already fighting to survive a gunshot injury to his arm.

On Friday evening, Diret was half-asleep on his mother’s lap, breastfeeding in a commercial vehicle loaded for the village in central Nigeria. The 37-year-old Christian trader and her baby had spent the day selling potatoes at the weekly vegetable market in Mangu, Plateau State. Ten miles away in Kogu, a village still recovering from the loss of over half a dozen residents in an attack just three years ago, her two older children were waiting for them to return.

At about 8 p.m. local time, just as their vehicle was about to pull out, gunshots tore through the busy market. Their vehicle loaded with nine members of the Christian Mwagavul tribe was the primary target.

Within an instant, his mother was hit multiple times. Diret was grazed by a bullet meant to kill him.

His mother’s last instinct saved him. As she fell, she threw him to the floor of the vehicle and collapsed over him, playing dead to shield him as bullets flew.

Right beside them, three people dropped dead. Five other passengers in the same vehicle were critically injured.

Diret and his mother were rushed to the hospital with other survivors after the attackers fled.

At the ward, the pain and discomfort are written all over him — and so is the distress of being separated from his mother, who is now fighting for her life.
