☀️ Looking for a fun, creative, and engaging summer experience for your child?

Community Roots School is excited to launch CRS Summer Explorations, featuring two week-long camps designed to inspire creativity, curiosity, and hands-on learning.

🎨 Arts & Crafts Camp
July 20–24 | Grades K–6
Students will explore a variety of artistic mediums and creative projects while developing their imagination, self-expression, and artistic skills in a supportive and engaging environment.

🌿 Environmental Design Camp
July 27–31 | Grades 4–6
Through hands-on design and model-building projects, students will explore sustainable homes, neighborhoods, and cities while learning about wildlife habitat, agriculture, stormwater solutions, and community wellbeing.

Both camps:
✅ Led by experienced Community Roots School educators
✅ Limited to 20 students for individualized attention
✅ Rooted in Montessori principles of creativity, exploration, and discovery
✅ Held at the Community Roots School campus in Silverton

Community Roots School is hosting a unique event this Saturday in Downtown Silverton to highlight the importance of local watershed health and salmon habitat.

Silverton Salmon Fest is scheduled for 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. May 9 at Town Square Park and the community is invited to attend.

The family-friendly, free event will help teach attendees about salmon and their ecosystems, and will feature salmon tasting, arts and crafts and more.

Chris Schreiner, administrator for Community Roots, said the program grew out of a class project for 6th graders that encourages students to tackle a topic of interest. The project then grew with support from Marion County Soil and Water Conservation District, Pudding River Watershed, and tribal historian Brigette McConville of Warm Springs.

Schreiner said the event is an example of “how our school encourages a student-led learning and to engage with their community in creative, meaningful ways.”
