Today is a great day for some arts advocacy! As many of you are aware, yesterday the federal government announced a pause on all federal loans and grants. It also impacts artists and arts organizations who receive federal funds from a variety of federal departments to connect and integrate arts with health, education, public safety, economic development, tourism, and community development.
At ArtsBuild, this pause directly impacts $115,000 in National Endowment for the Arts funding designated for our Community Cultural Connections Grants and Individual Artist Grants, which support individual artists and arts organizations and bring arts programming to every part of our County. It may also affect our digital literacy programs for artists and paid arts internships for college students.
We invite you to take part in this action alert and please tell our federal elected officials how this pause impacts you. Are you a prior grant recipient? Do you have other sources of federal arts funding that are being impacted? What does the pause mean to you and to our arts community here in Chattanooga - Hamilton County.

After you complete the alert, you’ll be invited to create a short 1 – 2 minute video that we will share with our elected officials as well.
Don’t forget the deadline to register to vote in the March 4th City elections is February 3rd.
