Signal Hill has had a fascinating history over the years, from the time when the Indians sent out their smoke signals, the coming of the Spaniards, ranching, farming and poppy fields, and the discovery of oil, to the vibrant community of today. Many homes and businesses are decorated with artwork from photos that our members have preserved and a great deal of our history is on display in the Signa

l Hill Library. Our goal is to expand our collection into a permanent museum exhibit in a new library or other location, along with items which are on loan to us. We hope you will join us in learning about our history and achieving this goal.

Our Story

Signal Hill has had a fascinating history over the years, from the time when the Indians sent out their smoke signals, the coming of the Spaniards, ranching, farming and poppy fields, and the discovery of oil, to the vibrant community of today. Many homes and businesses are decorated with artwork from photos that our members have preserved and a great deal of our history is on display in the Signal Hill Library. Our goal is to expand our collection into a permanent museum style exhibit in the NEW Signal Hill Library, scheduled to open in March of 2019, along with our collections combined with items from residents on loan to us. Until then, please visit our website at www.shhs90755.org to learn more about our interesting history.
