“It’s like a tree — it keeps on branching out,” he said. “Last year, around $7,000 worth of food was donated to the pantry by Team P-POW!”

Thank you to Mark Hays and Herald/Review Media for spotlighting our amazing partners, Team P-POW or Pantry Pick of the Week at Diamond Oak Brewing Cooperative, led by Cal Downey in the latest edition of the Life in Cochise magazine!

We can't do this alone, partners like Team P-POW help us to get kids fed in Cochise County!

A Day of Giving & Wellness – Supporting Peach’s Pantry
April 25, 2026

This special event is all about bringing the community together to support Peach’s Pantry and raise awareness about food insecurity right here in our area.

Rose, the owner of Roses Poses, recently made a big life change, relocating from Florida to Sierra Vista, Arizona. After closing her studio in Florida, she opened her new space in March 2025, with the intention of building something meaningful in her new community.

Her inspiration for this event came from attending a Peach’s Pantry New Year’s Eve fundraiser, her very first New Year’s outing. During the event, she heard a simple yet powerful message: when ramen noodles go on sale, buy what you can and donate, because it’s one of the most-requested items by students. She shared this message on her social media, but when only one person responded, she knew something bigger needed to happen.

That’s when Megan Jones, a yoga instructor at Roses Poses, suggested offering classes in exchange for food donations. Rose took that idea and expanded it into a full-day event, reaching out to fellow instructors to create a 12-hour schedule of wellness activities, all taught by volunteers.

What to Expect:
From 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., the day will offer a variety of sessions, including:
👧Morning stretch and a kids' class with Rose
💪Intro to power yoga with Megan
🧡Vinyasa flow with Jamie
🧘‍♀️Hatha yoga with Susannah (joining from Sonoita)
🫒Plant medicine session with Amy
👊Simple self-defense with Raphael
🎧A sound bath with Carrie from Crystal Lotus Blessings (also livestreamed on TikTok to encourage additional donations)

This event is designed for all experience levels, including beginners. People are encouraged to come for a class, or stay all day, connect with others, and enjoy the atmosphere. Snacks and water will be provided, along with thoughtful touches like rose petal tea by Amy and homemade chocolate by Carrie.

This event grew from collaboration and a shared desire to give back. Instead of charging for classes, participants are asked to bring 5 non-perishable food items per class, making wellness accessible while directly supporting local families. Rose hopes this becomes something even bigger in the future, possibly growing into a full yoga festival with vendors all centered around giving back.

One of Rose’s biggest goals is raising awareness. She said, “Many people don’t realize that families and children in our own community are still going hungry.”

This event creates a powerful ripple effect:
🧘‍♀️Rose donates her space
⌚️Instructors donate their time
🥫Community members donate food
🧡Families and children receive the support they need

She said, " It’s a shared effort that brings people together for a common purpose.”

Supporting Peach’s Pantry is deeply personal for Rose. Raised by a single mother, she understands the challenges many families face today. She has seen firsthand how hard people are working just to cover basic needs and how quickly support like food assistance can be lost. She wants families to know there is no shame in needing help, and she is grateful for organizations like Peach’s Pantry that step in during difficult times.

Rose wants the community to know that this event is an invitation to come together. In a time when people often feel divided, this is a chance to connect, meet new people, and support something that truly matters, making sure children in our community don’t go hungry. Come participate, give what you can, and be part of something meaningful.

An essential piece of Peach’s Pantry’s success is our amazing community partners. We are a unique program, in that we rarely work directly with the individuals receiving services from Peach’s Pantry. Instead, we collaborate with staff at schools and other nonprofit organizations to meet the growing needs of children and families in our community.

We want to show some ‘a-peach-iation’ to our partners by highlighting the important role they play in our program. Without these essential members of our ‘pit crew’ we would not be able to provide the level of care and resources we do.

First, Ms. Dorian Winters-Conkle is a school social worker at Buena High School. As a licensed therapist, she provides short-term counseling, connects students and families to community resources, and supports students’ social-emotional and basic needs. A strong focus of her work is making sure students have access to essentials like food, clothing, and hygiene items so they are able to function and succeed during the school day.

Ms. Winters developed a resource closet on campus through grants and donations and keeps snacks readily available for students who come to school hungry or don’t have access to school meals. Ms. Winters also partners closely with Peach’s Pantry to stock up their school pantry and to address food insecurity among students and families. She currently supports approximately 15–20 families through the program. Ms. Winters identifies students in need through her own work or teacher referrals, outreach, and relationship-building, making sure students and families feel comfortable before connecting them to resources.

Peach’s Pantry Executive Director Sarah Pacheco said, “Ms. Winters has been an amazing partner. She knows what is happening in her students’ lives, which allows us to help with specific needs such as hygiene items, laundry care, or even shoes and socks. Her work ensures students feel safe and welcomed at school, allowing them to focus on their studies and continue their education.”

Looking ahead, Ms. Winters shared that the Peach’s Pantry collaboration could include a greater presence at school events and expanded efforts over the summer, helping maintain consistent support for families year-round. She emphasized that partnerships like this are important in creating accessible,community-based systems that meet students’ needs and support their overall well-being.

Ms. Winters said, “Programs like Peach’s Pantry make students and families feel more involved and connected because they see that somebody cares.”

We are grateful to have Ms. Dorian Winters-Conkle as a partner and collaborator so we are able to play a small part in ensuring students in need at Buena High School are taken care of. Thank you!
