Last Friday was the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Sierra Vista Special Olympics. The athletes held the torch high and proud as we made our way down Fry Boulevard. It was a wonderful turnout, with the community lining the streets cheering on the athletes. Thank you to our law enforcement officers for everything they do to support our Special Olympics athletes. A very special thank you to Trish for all her hard work in helping make this event such a success. We are so grateful for everyone who came out to show their support.

On March 6th and 7th, we attended the 2026 Special Olympics State Basketball Tournament at the Arizona Athletic Grounds in Mesa, Arizona.
Way to go Coyotes and Roadrunners! The Coyotes brought home silver medals and the Roadrunners earned fourth place. Both teams played with all their heart and soul, showing great teamwork, sportsmanship, and integrity. They gave it their all, and we could not be prouder of them.
Thank you to everyone for the amazing support—from family and friends to the Sierra Vista Police Department and Cool FM. A special thank you to Debbie Baker, the coaches, assistant coaches, and all the volunteers. We couldn’t have done it without you.
One of the highlights for our athletes was the police es**rt from the Hobby Lobby parking lot to the outskirts of Huachuca City. It was an exciting and memorable moment for everyone.
Friday was our evaluation games followed by a dance where everyone was up and dancing and having a great time. Saturday was the medal round, with each team playing two games.
All in all, it was a long weekend, but it was absolutely worth it. We are so proud of our Coyotes and Roadrunners!

The Sierra Vista Special Olympic Teams are headed to Phoenix on March 5,2026 , to play 2 evaluation games on Friday and 2 games for Medals on Saturday. The Coyotes and Roadrunners are very excited as well as The Coaches, parents, family etc. As for some athletes this is their first State competition and not they are excited.
Come wish us luck as we leave from the Hobby Lobby parking lot about 3ish Thursday March 5, 2026 .

Our Special Olympics of Sierra Vista basketball program has two teams this year — the Coyotes and the Roadrunners. Both teams played hard this weekend at our basketball area tournament in Tucson.

The Coyotes brought home fourth place, and the Roadrunners earned an impressive second place finish!

Both teams worked incredibly hard, showed great sportsmanship, and represented our community with pride. We are very proud of them. We will be traveling to Phoenix for our state competition March 6th and 7th.

Way to go, Coyotes and Roadrunners! 🏀👏

Special Olympics polar plunge was a big success this year! The event was bigger than ever and we raised over $9000 in donations for our Sierra Vista Special Olympics athletes.

We would like to thank all who donated, the participants, sponsors, volunteers, and everyone who came out to cheer us on as we jumped into the cold water! There were many brave souls who took the plunge. Along with the fun there was a costume contest, dancing, door prizes, and even our polar bear
mascot.

Thank you to everyone who helped this year polar plunge such a huge success!

This morning, our Sierra Vista roadrunner softball team headed to Peoria, Arizona for the special Olympic state softball tournament! They received amazing sendoff from Sierra Vista Mayor Clea McCaa, local dignitaries and the Sierra Vista Police Department-complete with a police es**rt out of town. Good luck to the road runners, their coaches, and all the volunteers bring home those medals! Way to go roadrunners.

On November 8, 2025 The Sierra Vista Roadrunners Special Olympics Team traveled to the area tournament. We had six teams 5 teams came home with Gold Medals and one team brought home silver. These teams bowled so well, but they all had a great time . That’s what it’s all about . So very proud of them all.

On Saturday, November 22, 2025, our Special Olympic softball team, the Sierra Vista Roadrunners, played in the area tournament in Tucson at the Field of Dreams. Our athletes played hard, and each one showed such unique talent. The team won the first game 8–5 and the second game 5–0. Our Roadrunners came home with a gold medal!

It was a great day of games, and we really enjoyed ourselves. We’ll be heading to the state competitions on December 12th and 13th. Wish us luck!

Happy Veterans Day from Special Olympics of Sierra Vista! We were so honored to be a part of today’s Veterans Day Parade.  it was such a great time.
