The Shubert American Legion Auxiliary Unit 222 met October 13, 2026 at the home of Jana Wheeler. President Vicki Beilke called the meeting to order and called for a moment of silence. Chaplain Lacee Noa, offered the opening prayer.
The Pledge of Allegiance was recited. A verse of “America the Beautiful” was sung, and the ALA Preamble was recited.
Roll call was answered by 10 members.
Secretary Tana Brown read the minutes of the September 15, 2026 meeting.
Treasurer Judy Schlosser, shared the treasurers report.
Communication: Vicki Beilke shared a thank you from the Lincoln VA for the clothing donated.
The Veterans Day program will be at HTRS on November 11, at 9 AM.
Vicki Beilke, Linda Patchen, Dona Hall, Judy Schlosser and Elizabeth Ketner attended Fall Roundup. Vicki shared the awards given to the Unit at Fall Roundup. Linda Patchen was recognized with the Department Mentor of the Year Award. The Unit got 2nd place winner for the Unit Publicity book, an award for 100% membership, and a certificate of participation in Give 10 to Education. Other info shared from the meeting was that $350,000 is spent for the Give 10 for Education nationwide. There is a $250 grant that can be received for a Veteran caregiver.
Since there are not enough homes available this year to have The Christmas Tour of Homes fundraiser to help our local Veterans, it was decided to have a soup supper at the community building in Stella. There will be little decorated Christmas trees to be auctioned on a silent auction. The committee for this event is Lacee Noa, Jana Wheeler, Amber Last and Karen Shorb.
The Assessment for the Gift for Yanks and donations to the Department Presidents Project (Gift Shops and Care Givers), Dept Honorary Jr President’s Project (hearing devices for Veterans), Women Veterans, Auxiliary Emergency Fund, Veteran Dollar Days, Gift Shop, Veterans Home Appreciation, and Nebraska Creative Arts Festival will be sent.
County Government Day is November 19. The County ALA meeting is November 23 at 10 AM.
Linda Patchen mentioned about having a food drive. Everyone should bring non perishable items to the November meeting.
The next meeting will be November 10, 2026 at the home of Vicki Beilke.
Chaplain Lacee Noa gave the closing prayer and President Vicki Beilke declared the meeting adjourned.
