“WHAT DO OUR YOUNG PEOPLE NEED?”

Parents, grandparents, educators, mentors and young people see things organizations sometimes miss.

So here’s a question we’d genuinely like North Caddo families to think about:

Outside of school, what experiences or opportunities do you wish were more accessible to young people in our communities?

There isn’t a predetermined answer.

Your perspective helps us understand where partnerships and future programs might make the greatest difference.

We’re listening. 💙

“RETURNING PLAYERS”

🏀 RETURNING NC3 PLAYERS — WE WANT TO HEAR FROM YOU!

Planning for Year Two of the NC3 Youth Basketball League is underway.

We’re currently focusing on reconnecting with the families who participated in our inaugural league before registration is opened more broadly.

If your child played with us in Year One and your family is interested in returning, send us a message here on Facebook.

League scheduling and other details are still being developed, so we’re intentionally not announcing dates yet.

Right now, we’re building our returning-player list and preparing early.

First annual. Not the last. We’re building Year Two. 💙🏀

— “PARTNERSHIP”

NC3 wasn’t created to work alone.

The word Coalition is in our name for a reason.

Some organizations have facilities. Some have expertise. Some have volunteers. Some have funding. Some have relationships. And residents themselves have knowledge about their communities that no outside organization can replace.

When those strengths come together, more becomes possible.

That’s the kind of partnership NC3 wants to continue building throughout North Caddo Parish.

Not ownership. Collaboration.

“IMAGINE THE OPPORTUNITY”

A young person’s interests shouldn’t be limited by what happens to already be available nearby.

Imagine young people across North Caddo having greater exposure to athletics, technology, careers, entrepreneurship, mentorship, arts, wellness and educational experiences.

We don’t expect NC3 to provide all of those things ourselves.

That’s the point of coalition.

Schools. Churches. Businesses. Nonprofits. Government agencies. Parents. Volunteers. Community leaders.

Different people bringing different resources to the same table.

That’s how possibility grows.

“MENTORSHIP MATTERS”

Sometimes the most important resource we can give another person isn’t money.

It’s time, experience and presence.

Mentorship is part of NC3’s broader vision for strengthening our communities.

We want to continue creating spaces where people can connect, have meaningful conversations, share experiences and help one another grow.

That includes continuing our work around men’s mentorship.

Strong communities are built through relationships—and relationships take people willing to show up.

More to come. 💙

“THIS IS THE WORK”

Not all community work happens at an event.

Sometimes it looks like phone calls, meetings, emails, planning, listening, fixing what didn’t work and building relationships long before an announcement is ever made.

That’s where NC3 is right now.

We’re working behind the scenes on future programs, partnerships and the next chapter of our youth basketball league.

We won’t announce details before they’re ready.

But the work is happening.

“THE PEOPLE BEHIND THE WORK”

Programs don’t build communities by themselves.

People do.

Every NC3 activity represents parents who trusted us, volunteers who gave their time, partners who opened doors, community members who encouraged us and young people willing to participate.

Those relationships matter just as much as any event we organize.

To everyone who has helped NC3 take another step forward: thank you.

We’re still building. 💙

“BEYOND THE GAME”

Basketball was never only about basketball.

Our first NC3 Youth Basketball League gave young people an opportunity to compete, learn, interact and simply spend time together.

It also gave NC3 an opportunity to learn.

We saw what worked. We saw where we could improve. We learned more about communication, organization, participation and what it takes to build something that can grow year after year.

That’s why we’re starting earlier this time.

Year One wasn’t the finished product. It was the foundation.

And we’re building from it. 🏀💙

🌱 GROW SOMETHING: A SMALL GARDEN CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE

What if a small part of your backyard could help put fresh food on your family’s table?

For communities where access to fresh, affordable food can be limited, learning how to grow even a portion of what we eat can be a valuable skill.

And you don’t need acres of land to start.

A few containers, a raised bed, or a small backyard garden can produce herbs and vegetables while helping families learn more about where their food comes from.

Growing food at home can offer benefits beyond the harvest:

🌱 Fresh food close to home — You decide what you grow and when you harvest it.

💰 Potential grocery savings — A productive garden can supplement some of the produce your household would otherwise purchase. Start with foods your family actually eats.

🥬 More fresh-food options — Homegrown vegetables and herbs can make it easier to incorporate fresh ingredients into meals.

👨🏾‍👩🏾‍👧🏾 Something families can do together — Gardening gives children an opportunity to learn responsibility, patience, basic science, and practical life skills.

💙 The satisfaction of growing your own — There’s something rewarding about preparing a meal with food that started as a seed in your own backyard.

And October doesn’t mean gardening has to stop. In North Louisiana, the cooler season can provide opportunities for crops such as leafy greens, radishes, carrots, onions and other cool-season vegetables, depending on planting conditions and timing.

The goal isn’t to grow everything you eat.

Start small. Learn. Grow what works. Share what you learn.

Imagine more backyard gardens throughout North Caddo. Imagine young people learning how food is grown. Imagine neighbors sharing knowledge, seeds, produce and experience.

That’s another form of community strength.

At the North Caddo Community Coalition, we believe strengthening a community also means sharing practical knowledge and connecting people with resources that can improve everyday life.

🌱 Do you currently grow anything at home? If so, what grows well for you in North Caddo?

Share your experience below. Someone else in the community may learn from it.

“WE’RE LISTENING”

Building stronger communities starts with listening.

As NC3 begins planning future programs and initiatives, we want community voices to help inform the conversation.

When you think about young people growing up in North Caddo today, what opportunities would you like them to have greater access to?

Recreation? Mentorship? Technology? Career exposure? Education? Arts? Wellness? Something else?

We’re not asking because we’ve already decided the answer.

We’re asking because the people who live here should be part of the conversation.

Tell us what you see. 👇🏾
