When you go to the polls to cast your vote in an election, be sure to take one of the following:
• a driver's license,
• a Louisiana Special ID,
• LA Wallet digital driver's license,
• a United States military identification card that contains the applicant's name and picture, or
• some other generally recognized picture ID that contains your name and signature.

Voters who have no picture ID may complete and sign a Voter Identification Affidavit in order to vote; however, it is subject to challenge by law.

Early voting for the Nov. 3 election starts tomorrow, Tuesday, Oct. 20, and runs through Oct. 27, excluding Sunday, Oct. 25. Voting is in person from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 3, with polls open 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Domestic violence affects individuals of all ages, backgrounds, and communities. By educating ourselves, speaking out, and supporting those impacted, we can help break the cycle of abuse and create safer communities for everyone.

We encourage you to wear purple, share resources, and be a voice for those who may feel unheard. Together, we can foster awareness, empowerment, and change.

💜 The 6th Annual Purple Box Project Is Here!

For six years, the Caddo Parish District Attorney’s Office has invited our community to help us support domestic violence survivors and their children through the Purple Box Project.

The idea is simple: Grab a box, bin, basket, or container and fill it with everyday essentials that can make a real difference for a survivor starting over.

Your Purple Box doesn’t have to be fancy. Some businesses, churches, offices, families, and organizations love decorating their boxes in purple and making a project out of it—and we love seeing their creativity! But decoration isn’t required. It’s what’s inside the box that matters.

💜 HOW TO PARTICIPATE
• Collection Dates: October 1 – November 16, 2026
• Grab a container: Use a box, plastic bin, basket, or whatever you have.
• Fill it: We’re collecting hygiene products, hair care items, soap, deodorant, diapers, blankets, wipes, and other new personal-care essentials.
• Bring it to us: Caddo Parish District Attorney’s Office, 525 Marshall Street, Shreveport, Monday–Friday, 9:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m.
• Need us to pick it up? We can arrange that, too! Contact us at 318-588-0084 to coordinate a pickup.

World Perimenopause Day is observed annually on September 22.

Perimenopause is a natural stage of life, yet many women are left wondering why they suddenly feel different. From changes in mood, sleep, energy levels, and menstrual cycles to symptoms like hot flashes and brain fog, perimenopause can affect every woman differently.

This month, let's break the stigma, start conversations, and empower women with knowledge. Understanding the signs and symptoms can help you take control of your health and seek the support you deserve.

The Beta Psi Chapter of Iota Phi Lambda Sorority, Inc. proudly joins organizations across the nation in recognizing National Hazing Prevention Week and reaffirming our commitment to fostering a culture of respect, integrity, and sisterhood.

Hazing has no place in organizations dedicated to uplifting, empowering, and supporting individuals. We believe membership should be built on shared values, meaningful service, leadership development, and genuine connections, never on fear, humiliation, or harm.

As women committed to scholarship, leadership, and community service, we stand united in promoting safe, inclusive, and positive experiences for all. Together, we can create environments where every individual is treated with dignity and respect.

We encourage our members, community partners, and supporters to take a stand against hazing. Educate yourself on the signs and consequences of hazing, speak up when you see harmful behaviors, and help foster a culture where respect, accountability, and inclusion thrive. By working together, we can ensure that every organization remains a safe place for growth, leadership, and lifelong connections.
