The search for a forever home continues…

These girls deserve nothing but the best. Unfortunately, the forever home we were promised turned out to be anything but.

Over the course of several weeks, we relied on our rescue network to help locate a secure, reliable, and safe placement. Every effort was made to ensure their new home would be ready upon our arrival.

The reality is that even with trusted rescue contacts, countless phone calls, text messages, emails, and weeks of preparation, placements can still fall through. Sadly, that is exactly what happened in this situation and what ultimately led us to turn around and head back home. While it was a difficult decision, we know these sisters deserve the very best, and we remain confident that the right home is out there for them—even if it takes a little more time to find.

For now, the silver lining is that they are alive, safe, and out of the shelter, embarking on the rescue-roadtrip adventure of a lifetime. They will be fostered at our sanctuary until we can find their perfect forever family. Until then, please continue to support them and send them your love. 💕

Rescue takes love, patience, resilience, and the courage to do what is right. But above all, rescue takes a village. Thank you for being part of ours.

❗️SAVED❗️from the shelter and off to a better life!

Our rescue team has our VIP passengers loaded up safely and are currently en route to their forever home in New Mexico.

We get calls like this every single day, and honestly, it’s overwhelming. The heartbreaking truth is we can’t save them all—but we never stop trying. We’re so happy to share that these two girls are among the lucky ones.

Our team worked tirelessly, as we always do, to find a qualified home—and we did. This week, we drove 10 hours to Shingletown to pick them up, then we will drive another 24 hours to New Mexico to get them safely to their new home.

Every rescue takes time, money, resources, and a dedicated team willing to do whatever it takes.

An angel donor has pledged $1,200 towards their rescue costs, but we need all the help we can get to bolster our rescue fund and save more lives.

Follow our journey as we share updates along the way.

BREAKING: A new provision buried inside the FY2027 House Interior & Environment Appropriations bill is once again targeting federal gray wolf protections.

Section 125 of the proposed spending bill would effectively reinstate the Trump administration’s controversial 2020 gray wolf delisting rule — while also prohibiting judicial review, meaning the decision could not be challenged in court.

This is the same tactic Congress used in 2011 to strip Northern Rocky Mountain wolves of federal protections through an appropriations rider instead of the normal science-based Endangered Species Act process.

If passed, management of gray wolves across much of the lower 48 would largely be handed back to states like Idaho and Montana, where aggressive wolf killing policies already allow extensive trapping, snaring, aerial gunning, and expanded hunting seasons.

🇺🇸Today we honor the people who gave their lives protecting the wild places, freedoms, and future generations we often take for granted. Wolves, too, remind us what it means to protect family, defend community, and endure against impossible odds. This Memorial Day, we remember the fallen — human and wild alike — and recommit ourselves to safeguarding the landscapes and wildlife they left behind.🇺🇸

The first time I met you, it was a battle , me trying to get you into a crate, and you fighting not to.
Makes sense. A strange man caught you when you came close because your girl was being taken away. How would you know you were being rescued? That the local authorities were going to shoot you because you got away and were “causing trouble” in the neighborhood? You would not leave your girl behind.
You could have been free and run off into the wilderness of Northern California, but you stayed and put yourself in danger because you were in love. We had to somehow make room for you here at Apex because the alternative was to split you up, and we were not going to let that happen. We told your romantic story all the time—the 93% wolf in love with a 7% wolfdog. Together, you made one hundred percent.
You had every right not to like or trust me after the way we met, but not only did you trust me, we became the best of friends. Greeting me every morning by bounding over and pouncing on me, filled with love and excitement. You were home, and you were safe. You were family.
I promise we will keep Addy safe and make sure she lives a long, happy life.
I will miss you, my friend. Thank you for the lessons in love and trust. I will never forget.
