Huge Score for us this week. We have struggled for years now with the Zuidberg tracks on our John Deere 6175 large frame tractor. Parts availability being the biggest challenge. A club down state "TrailRiders" have abandoned their set that is the same as ours. They went with a new Soucy set of tracks. We believe there are now only 2 clubs left running Zuidberg tracks. Drummond Island and Alger SORVA.
We appreciate the DNR and the other Grant Sponsors for working together to save the snowmobile program money. Not having to wait for parts is going to reduce any down time significantly for us. We have been making repairs to this track system over the summer and still ongoing. Our 6175 should be in great shape for grooming this winter. We are doing all we can to maintain our equipment to minimize down time.

If any one has interest in hauling this track system from St Louis, MI to Shingleton, MI, please reach out. They should be ready for pickup in the next couple of weeks.

Alger SORVA is proud to support MISORVA. Our Club President Sean is the Director for Central UP. Our clubs Board member Karyn is the current President of MISORVA. We are leveraging the organizations lobbyists for several UP issues. and building relationships with Legislators. Locally we are pushing for ORV trail designations. Our biggest challenges are the Federal, National Forest along with Manulife land owners. All of us involved with the club ride dirt and snow and want to build and protect motorized recreation.

As we look back on the past year, MISORVA has been busy doing what our members count on us to do: showing up, speaking up, asking questions, and protecting the future of motorized recreation in Michigan.

From legislative meetings and trail funding discussions to work with clubs, grant sponsors, the DNR, and elected officials, our focus has stayed on the people who ride and the volunteers who make Michigan's trail system possible.

Some of this work happens publicly. Much of it happens behind the scenes—in meetings, phone calls, emails, policy reviews, and conversations in Lansing.

That's advocacy. That's representation. That's what membership supports.

2025-2026 GROOMING SEASON WRAP-UP

What a season, everyone! We're thrilled to report another successful year of keeping our trails in top condition for our snowmobiling community!

BY THE NUMBERS:
• 11,814 miles groomed across the season
- December: 1,101 miles
- January: 3,456 miles
- February: 4,268 miles
- March: 2,989 miles
• Fuel costs: $38,460.61
• Groomer operators compensated: $14,631.25 (1.25 mile)
• Maintenance and repairs: $9,521.34
• Grant allocation: $62,613.76 (including $4,000 amendment)

SPECIAL RECOGNITION goes to our 18 dedicated groomer drivers who put in countless hours to maintain safe, smooth trails throughout the winter. Your hard work and expertise made all the difference!

This year brought tight budget challenges, but through careful management and the support of our amazing community, we maximized every dollar to deliver quality grooming all season long. Thanks to the DNR granting us a $4,000 amendment, we were able to keep the trails running beautifully throughout the entire season!

CURRENT EFFORTS:

Post-season maintenance is well underway! We're conducting comprehensive equipment inspections on all tractors and drags, and getting our machines properly stored and prepared for next winter.

Summer planning is in full swing with grading efforts and several trail improvement projects on the schedule.

AuTrain Bridge Update: We're hopeful the bridge replacement will happen this Fall, though it has not yet gone out for bid, which is concerning. We're actively working with our DNR partners to emphasize how critical this project is to our community.

TRAIL ALERT - 418 and 417 Washout Damage: Please use extreme caution in these areas. Severe water runoff has caused washouts in several locations. Stay safe out there!
