Provides layette baskets filled with needed supplies for newborns to mothers in the Greater Portland/Vancouver Communities who are in need, before they leave the hospital to go home. These mothers often times do not have the needed items such as an outfit to bring their babies home from the hospital in. "The Lovebug Project" assembles baskets of needed items such as a warm blanket, disposable dia
pers, wipes, onesies, pajamas and bottles to help give these newborns a positive start. Many of our items are either new or gently used and donated from within our community. We intend to develop close relationships with community outreach organizations, hospitals, churches etc to locate mothers and babies in need. We are a dynamic group of women and men that bring together varying background experiences and a passion to help. Together we foster an environment filled with compassion and understanding and the desire to pay forward help to the families in our local community that are in need. What is your role???? We all know the old addage "It takes a village to raise a child". Well, this is my other baby and I can not raise it into the the wonderful non-profit I dream of it becoming someday without the love, dedication and talents of volunteers!!! Whether you have an hour a week or 40 hours per week, I would love everyone to take part. I am looking for all skills and talents. If you have a graphics/web background or love networking or have connections to hospitals, churches or other community organizations, can knit/crochet... I can use everyone's abilities in some fashion. Please let me know if you would be interested in becoming a volunteer and what your level of interest is and I will then set a date and time for our group to meet, come together and begin formalizing our plan. I feel so lucky and blessed to have the love and support that surrounds me and my children. Now I feel that it is my turn to give that back to others. If you have been looking for a way to give back, I encourage you to join me on this journey and see where it leads.
