This page was created to raise hit and run awareness in honor of our daughter, sister, granddaughter, niece, aunt, friend, Josey Lynn Scott, 19 years old, who was killed by a hit and run driver on Feb. 10th of this year. And so begins the fight for JUSTICE FOR JOSEY! This is not about "vengeance" for our family. It's about fighting for laws to be changed for anyone who has lost a loved one to hit
and run, and for future victims. The laws are not harsh enough. Thank goodness in 2013 it did become an automatic 2nd degree felony, but that is not enough. We have a life sentence, why should they get off with a minimum of 2 years, maximum of 20?!?! I am fighting for Minimum Bond/No bond Minimum time served 40 years. I want a minimum bond of $750,000 and NO bond if they have prior felonies. I also want a 40 year minimum sentence. With NO early parole or release. In this day and age, we are all always so focused on our phones, the radio, something on the floorboard or something in the other seat, driving is NOT the time or place for that to be our focal point. Our eyes need to be on the road and our surroundings. Please help us in this fight and do not be afraid to tell anyone what JUSTICE FOR JOSEY is all about!! So many people see it and assume they know or understand. If they really knew what the fight was for, maybe they would rethink their attitude!! Also, after making awareness jewelry for almost 4 years, I was shocked to see there was NOT a ribbon for hit and run awareness. So, being that there is a dark blue for drinking and driving and light blue for victim's rights, Josey's favorite color was turquoise, so it seemed fitting that the ribbon should be turquoise. Right in the middle! I also added a single wing. With hit and run, the y are ripped out of our lives so tragically, so I thought the wing most appropriate also. Then I sent it to as many as I could find to get it "approved". After many tries, I was told it gets "accepted" not approved. So folks, the turquoise ribbon and wing you see in the cover photo IS the hit and run awareness ribbon! On June 7, 2016, we finally saw a little justice being served. The man who hit and killed our daughter was given 19 years. One for each year of her young life. His family says we should be satisfied. That will not bring our Josey back. Also, he will probably only serve 1/4 to 1/3 of that time due to the fact that our prisons are so over populated, and they are given the opportunity for parole. Meanwhile, they can still visit him, see him.....we will never see or hear from our Josey again. Thank you all for all of your support! God bless!
