Great things to come!!! Join us in the fight against childhood cancer!!!
Wilson & the rest of us have some very exciting news to share! We have been hard at work with a team of incredible, dedicated, & compassionate people to create an organization in honor of & inspired by Wilson himself! 🎉
➡️ Wilson's Way is officially recognized as a business with the state of Iowa. We are currently pending nonprofit status as the paperwork gets underway, but we plan to have that all finished by the end of the year!
Our mission: Serving local children & families of children affected by childhood/pediatric cancer through fundraising & community events.
We hope to establish an existing fund that allows us to step in immediately when a family is identified to provide families with financial support for expenses, trips, funeral/end of life services, & more, rather than reacting to the situation when things get dire.
This decision has been brought on by several things. First, was the community support we got to feel the depth of. The group who so graciously created & organized the Wilson Rocks concert last June have agreed to help us in this endeavor & we hope to make this an annual event for our community. Second, we experienced first hand how little outreach there is to our "neck of the woods." We live in a rural triangle between those big networks & sometimes we get overlooked. We want to make sure nobody gets overlooked. Third, Wilson has a vision. He wants to help others. He wants to bring joy & support to other kids, other families. He recognizes, just as we do, that we couldn't have survived anything without help from our neighbors, our friends, & even perfect strangers. This is our way of turning everything big, bad, & scary into something powerful & positive. This is our resilience. This is our way to continue the fight. 🎗

This page will continue to be the place where we update on Wilson's progress & prognosis, but will now also include all of our exciting progress in our work for Wilson's Way as it hopefully grows beyond our wildest dreams.

We know, unfortunately, all too well that cancer doesn't discriminate & that it is likely only a matter of time before there is another kid in Southwest Iowa that needs our help. We want to be the people who step in & help when that time comes. 💛
